Rescuing Leftover Cuisine (RLC) is a nonprofit organization committed to fighting food insecurity and preventing wasted food. We have cultivated a network of dedicated food rescuers who bring food directly from our donors to nonprofit organizations, letting neighbors help neighbors while reaping the environmental and economic benefits of reducing wasted food. Founded in 2013, our simple, but elegant model has redistributed over 10 million pounds of food cumulatively, and almost 3 million pounds in 2022 alone.
The Position
We’re looking for a full-time Accounting Manager to join our small, founder-led team and continue our impressive growth trajectory. Reporting to RLC’s Chief Executive Officer, the Accounting Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of transactional finance including journal entries, review of ledgers, and balance sheet reconciliations. This role will in some cases support and in other cases fully oversee aspects of RLC’s finances and books remotely, in addition to aiding RLC’s growth efforts on the org-wide level.
Responsibilities:
The Accounting Manager’s essential duties will include, but are not limited to:
Responsible for transaction finance, financial reporting, overseeing bookkeeper, and maintaining chart of accounts
Report to Chief Executive Officer
Recording GL entries on a weekly basis to process transactions of the organization
Lead all balance sheet reconciliations and ensure proper resolutions are communicated
Treasury reconciliation and reconciliation of credit card balances
Preparation of monthly cash flow and financial statements
Identify and implement financial process improvements
Manage external audit process
Create budgets, track budget to actuals, and update variances to Finance Committee
Present financial data to Board of Directors on quarterly basis
Other ad hoc duties as assigned
Qualifications:
5+ years of relevant full-time experience
Experience in managerial accounting and financial management in nonprofit or relevant business
Must be able to visit office in NYC once a week
Advanced Excel skills associated with large volumes of data, reporting, and data management
Effective and clear written and verbal communication
Organizational skills, data entry skills, and analytical mindset
Ability to consult and interact with RLC’s executive team, colleagues, and interns
Excellent working knowledge of financial and database systems, preferably Quickbooks
In depth knowledge of financial principles and practices

Total Compensation
Salary range for this position is $55,000-$65,000
