Accounting Manager - Leases And Capital

POSITION SUMMARY
The Accounting Manager - Leases & Capital oversees the Company's lease and fixed assets/capital functions to manage all aspects of the accounting for leases, fixed assets and franchise royalties. This position includes ensuring a complete and accurate financial close, compliance with ASC 842, Leases, and ASC 360, Property, Plant & Equipment, ensuring best practice processes and controls are maintained for accurate financial reporting & disclosures, and the timely processing, payment and invoicing of all rent, franchise royalty and fixed asset transactions. This role manages the end-to-end lease cycle, including partnering with other functional teams, creating efficiency, automation, and standardization and covers all lease transactions including, but not limited to all master Leases and subleases, guarantees and assignments, common area maintenance, and other triple net lease amounts.
This role is highly collaborative and highly visible given cross functional partnership with other areas of the organization for capital purchases, royalty billings and lease administration, including but not limited to restaurant development, franchise operations, lease administration, legal, accounts payable, financial reporting, FP&A and Treasury.
KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage the accounting team for all aspects of the accounting for leases, fixed assets and franchise royalty/marketing billings:
Manage the close and reconciliation activities for timely completion of lease accounting, royalty billing and fixed assets activity for each period-end close
Manage the end-to-end process, partnering with lease administration and legal, A/R teams, and A/P teams, to meet the close and reporting deadlines and support timely and accurate payment and billing of Leases and franchisee royalties and marketing fees
Manages the tracking of capital expenditures, asset disposals, and any other fixed assets activities, including a by-period fixed asset rollforward.
Coordinate month end close processes including subledger work in Lucernex, general ledger, internal and external financial reporting deliverables, including footnote disclosures and cash flow supporting schedules.
Responsible for delivery of complete and accurate account reconciliations and variance analysis
Manage the technical accounting research and decisions around lease classifications, modifications, etc., ensuring compliance with accounting rules and disclosures
Meets all functional requirements for the organization's whole business securitization debt structure related to leases, fixed assets and franchisee billings.
Manage quarterly embedded lease inquiries and review of material contracts
Ensure compliance with internal and external audits, establish and execute proper internal controls
Support, manage, and implement accurate restaurant impairment analysis, ensuring compliance with ASC 360
Support external financial reporting disclosure requirements with respect to ASC 842 and ASC 360
Maintains and improves internal controls to ensure that accounting activities are properly captured, and are complete and accurately recorded
Coordinate, provide deliverables and review fixed asset tax books that are calculated and maintained by external parties.
Provide detailed analysis to support budgeting and forecasting activities with FP&A and senior management
Accounting subject matter aspect for Lucernex or other lease accounting and royalty billing system.
Other duties and/or special projects as assigned in response to changing business conditions and/or requirements
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
Education - Bachelor's degree or equivalent, preferably in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required; CPA Preferred
Experience - At least 6-8 years accounting experience, including lease accounting and managing a team. Lucernex and/or NetSuite experience a plus
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities - Requires in-depth knowledge of accounting theory and principles, including a strong financial acumen and understanding of FASB, GAAP and SEC. Strong technical, analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong computer skills, including in-depth knowledge of excel and other MS Office Suite. Excellent oral and written English communication skills with customer service focus, and management, interpersonal and organizational skills. Demonstrates integrity and ethical behavior.
Physical Requirements - Ability to speak/hear clearly in person and on the telephone. Requires extended periods of time working at a computer using a keyboard and mouse. Ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced, fast growing company.
Travel - Available to occasionally travel when necessary.

Pay Range: $100,000-$140,000
