Reports to: Protos Assistant Controller

Through its parent company Security Services Holdings LLC, Protos has been majority owned since February 2019 by Southfield Capital, a Greenwich, CT based private equity investment firm. Southfield Capital has added significant financial strength, corporate governance, as well as both strategic and acquisition support.
Summary:
This position is primarily responsible for applying accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, prepare accurate and timely financial reports and statements and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP
  • Compile and analyze financial information to prepare financial statements including monthly and annual accounts for two Subsidiary companies
  • Establish and monitor the implementation and maintenance of accounting control procedures
  • Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures
  • Ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met
  • Prepare financial management reports
  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end closes are completed and work with subsidiary companies to ensure compliance
  • Review the local reporting packages submitted by the subsidiary companies, provide feedback and ensure appropriate changes are completed
  • Assist subsidiary companies with questions and resolve issues
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and review accounts for accuracy for subsidiary companies
  • Book required journal entries in accordance with properly executed schedules
  • Coordinate the intercompany process with other subsidiary companies
  • Resolves accounting discrepancies and irregularities
  • Monitors and supports taxation issues
  • Financial audit preparation and coordinate the audit process
  • Ensures accurate and appropriate recording and analysis of revenues and expenses by means of reviewing key calculations and accruals at subsidiary companies
  • Reconciles and analyzes on business operations including revenue and expenditure trends, financial commitments, and future revenues
  • Analyzes financial information to recommend or develop efficient use of resources and procedures, provide strategic recommendations and maintain solutions to business and financial problems
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • File Sales Tax on a monthly basis

Qualifications:

Education / Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from an accredited four-year college or university in Accounting; 6+ years of related experience; Public Accounting experience required; CPA desired.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Accounting Software (Sage Intacct preferred); Payroll Systems (ADP Workforce Now); Spreadsheet Software (Excel) intermediate/high level; Word Processing Software (Word); Presentation Software (PowerPoint); Visio Proprietary Software.
