The role:
The Accounting Manager reports to the company Controller and is responsible for providing expertise in financial, project accounting, accounting services, and implementing company finance policy.
Responsibilities will include:
- Managing, training, and supervising team members in a wide range of accounting functions.
- Gathering and maintaining data locations.
- Serving as the people manager for accounting employees (2 to start with). Includes supporting career development, feedback, training, and accounting execution success for all direct reports.
- Preparing timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Ensuring that accounts payable are reviewed, approved, properly accounted for, and paid in a timely manner.
- Managing the company's project accounting processes and ensuring that customer contract costs are properly accounted for, billed, and accounts receivable are collected according to payment terms.
- Partnering with the Controller to ensure accounting processes are compliant with US GAAP.
- Supporting the Controller in managing banking operations and ensuring internal controls related to writing checks and approving wire transfers.
- Working with the Controller to identify and implement continuous improvement plans for all accounting systems.
- Working with the Controller and outside CPA to file accurate and timely tax returns.
- Preparing and filing timely sales and use tax returns and 1099 tax reporting.
- Managing and maintaining accurate files in support of functional responsibilities.
- Providing ad hoc financial reports or related support as needed.
Apply if you have:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting with 2 or more years of experience as an Accounting Manager for a company that provides services or
- 5+ years of experience as an Accounting Manager with completion of intermediate and advanced accounting coursework/similar certifications.
- Heavy experience in a wide range of accounting functions.
- A knack for detail orientation and organization.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Deep experience in a variety of accounting functions:
- Financial accounting and reporting
- Project accounting
- A/P and A/R
- Fixed asset accounting
- Corporate tax reporting
- 1099 tax reporting
- Project management for cost estimation and revenue prediction
- Experience using integrated ERP accounting systems (we have ODOO).
- Assisted with annual reporting related to a company and its compliance in the past.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Excel.
Even better if you have:
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of ODOO accounting software.
- Achieved your CPA certification.
- Project cost accounting (accounting for unallowable costs) experience.
- Consulting industry accounting experience.
Compensation and featured benefits:
- The pay for this position is $90,000 to $95,000, and the role is eligible for bonuses. The actual salary offer may be different as we carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience and location
- Health insurance with the choice of four plan options. We cover 70-95% of premiums for VIATechies and 70% of the premiums for dependents
