Accounting Manager

We are a high end boutique hotel and restaurant in Tulum Mexico (www.rubitulum.com) owned by a family private equity office in Houston Texas.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Accounting Manager is responsible for providing consistent leadership in the financial area of our business by supplying management with accurate and timely financial information. The Accounting Manager will supervise the financial staff based in Mexico. The Individual is also responsible for multiple company’s cash disbursements, daily cash receipt reconciliations, bank reconciliations, credit card processing reconciliations, all ensuring proper internal controls and ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. Additional duties include:
• Guide financial decisions by establishing, monitoring and enforcing policies and procedures.
• Build on current departmental processes by implementing more effective and efficient policies and procedures.
• Maintain close liaison with the Owner and departmental managers, customers, and vendors.
• Coordinate accounting, financial reporting, and fiscal operation activities. Work with external accounting firm to prepare monthly financial statements and review complex calculations for payroll.
• Ensure compliance on all regulatory licenses and permits, leases, contracts, legal agreements, and the proper execution of all operational taxes. Review income tax and VAT tax reports, and others as needed,
• Work with external accounting firm for tax preparation.
• Ensure that all communication, correspondence, receipts, disbursements, and other activities involving customers, vendors, and employees are confidential and performed in a cooperative, harmonious manner while maintaining proper controls and safeguards on company assets.
• Assist the Owner in the development of budgets, monitor and control adherence thereto.
• Assist the Owner in the formulation and implementation of effective financial strategy for the company.
• Perform miscellaneous financial projects, analyses, and other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a minimum of five (5) years overall experience as a full charge bookkeeper.
Position can be performed from home, reports directly to Owner,
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Spanish and English is mandatory.
Travel to Tulum Mexico on a quarterly basis, must have a valid passport,
Knowledge of Mexican accounting regulations and Mexican banking a plus
Understanding of USD / MX currency exchange rates
Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail.
Motivated and fast paced personality; good decision maker; goal oriented.
