Job DescriptionWestminster-Canterbury on Chesapeake Bay has an Accounting Internship.
The purpose of this position is to provide a 4 to 6 month paid Internship opportunity to gain experience, extra college credits and insights into Accounting functions at WCBAY.
Schedule: Flexible, Monday - Friday
What will I do?
Our Accounting & Administrative Internis responsible for successfully completing daily tasks and/or projects as assigned, as well as completing all assigned tasks in a timely manner while exhibiting the our Core Values (Respect, Passion and Professionalism). Additionally, you will:
- Assist in preparing journal entries, analyzing general ledger accounts, reviewing actual vs. budget variances and preparing variance explanations.
- Assist with the annual external audit process, including but not limited to gathering the required information, preparing requested schedules and answering audit questions.
- Assist in preparing of the annual budget process.
- Assist in Presenting and reporting data related to financial activities.
- Reconcile bank accounts monthly and research any variances.
- Become familiar with the financial business structure.
- Learn and utilize various accounting methods as it relates to business processes.
- Gain experience managing projects in a professional setting.
Basic qualifications for this role:
- Full-time student enrolled in an accredited College or University
- Pursuing a degree program with a major in Business Administration or Accounting and completed at least two (2) years of coursework
- Technical skills are a must
- Business Math proficiency
- Demonstrate ability to interact with people at various corporate levels
- Demonstrate ability to solve problems independently and collaboratively in a team
- Demonstrate ability to organize and prioritize work, multi-task and work well under pressure
- Working knowledge of Excel, Word, Access, and Powerpoint
