Form of workThe Community Solution Education System is hiring an Accounting Intern to join the Finance team. This position will work alongside the staff and senior accountant, reporting to the Accounting Manager. While this role is primarily financial accounting focused, there will be exposure to different aspects of the Finance department such as accounts payable, treasury & risk management, financial planning & analysis, and any other areas as needed to support finance functions in higher education. This is a fully remote summer internship (June through August) scheduled for 20-25 hours per week. The capstone of this internship will be a final project and presentation to leadership.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
·Providing general accounting support, including creating journal entries and
account analysis.
·Assisting with reconciliations for balance sheet and expense accounts.
·Researching and resolving any discrepancies or accounting issues.
·Organizing and maintaining work files and documents.
·Providing timely information for annual audits upon request.
·Assist with preparation of the quarterly tax returns.
·Assist with month end and yearend financial reporting.
·Completing additional projects or duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
·Familiarity with Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
·Professional demeanor
·Accurate data entry skills
·Strong customer service skills
·Strong verbal, written communication, and organizational skills
·Must be able to work collaboratively.
Position Qualifications:
·Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Graduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, junior or senior level preferred.
