Job Title:Accounting InternReports to: Accountant
FLSA Status: Part-Time (Non-Exempt) Department: G&A
Position Objective:
- Perform accounting functions accurately and consistently and assist with special projects
- Post financial data to appropriate accounts
- Pre-audit, verify, and process employee expense claims reviewing rules for employee compliance
- Assist with paying bills
- Assist with accounting for customer property and maintaining property logs
- Reconcile bank and credit card statements on a monthly basis
- Create, update, and reconcile cost accounting spreadsheets with information in the accounting system
- Support processing payroll on a monthly basis
- Compose routine letters and reports using instructions or guidelines of the work area
- Ensure accuracy and follow documentation procedures for all work; maintain notebook of daily activities and provide weekly report of work
- Other duties as assigned
- Undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in a program related to the field of accounting with a superior academic record
- Understanding of basic accounting functions (A/R, A/P, reconciliations, journal entries, etc.)
- Attention to detail and effective time and schedule management skills
- Effective organizing, planning, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to adapt within a small team to support evolving customer requirements
- Ability to execute instructions and communication in written, oral, and diagram form
- Demonstrated strong writing, fact-gathering, and analytical skills
- High level of integrity and confidentiality
- Basic computer and software skills including but not necessarily limited to Microsoft Office products (e.g., Outlook, Word, and Power Point) and QuickBooks; advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- College sophomore or junior with cumulative GPA (Grade Point Average) of 3.5 or higher
- Knowledge of payroll practices
- Knowledge of QuickBooks or other accounting software
- U.S. Citizen or Green Card Holder
- Hours: The internship is a part-time, year-round position that requires a minimum of sixteen hours per week of work. The hours are flexible and they can change from one semester to another based on the students class schedule. The weekly hours can be adjusted to balance for the examinations, tests and project submissions.
