Accounting Assistant

Lee Enterprises is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated business professional to join our company to support the company’s operational treasury processes. The primary areas of responsibility of the position include researching, identifying and routing customer payments daily using our various payment application portals. The ability to quickly learn and utilize multiple business software systems is critical.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Research and identify customer payment information.
• Route customer correspondence using web-based portal.
• Track and post daily local deposits utilizing primarily Excel and other file formats.
• Provide hands on transactional assistance for payment processing.
• Respond to daily operational treasury related requests from business units and internal departments.
• Ensure operational payments are processed each day.
• Work functionally across departments and multiple business units throughout the US.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Associate Degree in accounting or related business field preferred
• 0-2 years’ experience in bookkeeping and accrual accounting
• Quick learner and ability to learn new systems
• Strong work ethic / self-motivated ability to meet rigid deadlines
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office products with demonstrated efficiency in Excel
• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Responsible, organized, with excellent time-management skills
• Keen analytical and problem-solving talent
• Possess intellectual curiosity and a drive to develop in career
