Accounting Assistant

We are looking for an Accounting Assistant to perform daily accounting tasks that will support our financial team. These responsibilities include data entry, billing, clerical work, and receptionist duties for accounts payable, collections, and tax services. Also, additional accounting financial applications. If you have any related job or educatIonal experience, or are interested in gaining experience and grow in a dynamic, well established and respected, professional accounting firm of 30+ years, we’d like to meet you. Ultimately, you will help our Accounting department run smoothly, ensuring transparency and efficiency in all transactions.

Responsibilities

• Data entry
• Team support and multi-tasking for small, professional office that is highly specialized and respected.
• Clerical and receptionist duties.
• Communication with fellow associates and clients.
• Enter financial transactions into databases.
• Compiling prepared financial and tax records.
• Maintain digital and physical financial records.
• Review and file documents.
• Billing clients and accepting payments.

Skills

Prior work experience or college level coursework in Accounting would be desireable, especially public accounting. However, we would be willing to train the right person!

• Must have the desire and ability to perform well in a busy office; and must be able to support the team to get things done!
• Prior knowledge of basic data entry and financial procedures would be an asset.
• Good math skills with accuracy, speed, and attention to detail.
• Hands-on experience with MS Excel, MS Word, and accounting software like QuickBooks, Thompson-Reuters (CSA, Accounting CS), or other accounting systems) would be huge plus.
• Organization and communication skills. Must be responsible and accountable.
• Ability to handle sensitive, confidential information
• Must be able to type and use a keyboard with accuracy and speed.'
