A national banking industry leader is seeking an Accountant to join their team in Minneapolis!

This role will start as a 1 year W2 contract with potential to convert to direct hire.

• Maintains adequate accounting and control for various accounting functions related to Investment portfolio and External reporting.
• Maintains and reconciles general ledger and subsidiary ledger accounts.
• Prepares financial statements and reports.
• Maintains and develops automated accounting systems, controls, and procedures.
• Prepares and develops reports for management and/or for regulatory authorities.
• Responds to inquiries regarding accounting policies, procedures, and issues from management, external auditors, and regulatory authorities.

Top 3 Must Have Skills or Experience Required:

• 5+ years Accounting Experience, External & Bank reporting experience
• Investment portfolio and Securities industry experience
• Minimum education requirements: BS Accounting and/or Finance

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent work experience
• Five or more years of experience in financial accounting activities

Preferred Skills/Experience**

• Proficient computer skills, especially Microsoft Office applications
• Considerable knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other regulations
• Considerable knowledge of accounting, reporting, and analysis
• Ability to identify and resolve exceptions and to analyze data
