Fundamental Components:
Job responsibilities include the preparation of various statutory deliverables including:
Quarterly and annual statutory statements
Supplementary filings to the regulator
State premium tax returns and statistical reports
Assist with month end close and GAAP financial statements
Assist with the Budget and Proforma analysis and reporting
Assisting the finance team with preparation of the audited financial statements
The candidate would be expected to perform analysis on entity financials to understand out-of-trend movements and work with various internal business partners to understand the underlying results and be able to explain the significance of those results to the VP- Divisional Controller and Senior Management.
The candidate will be expected to become proficient on statutory accounting guidance, and work across teams to suggest and implement process improvements.
The candidate would be able to work with the VP-Divisional Controller to provide tax provisions on a quarterly basis for both Statutory statements and GAAP statements.
The candidate will be able to manage frequent reporting deadlines, due dates of premium tax returns, and any installment payments required.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate would have Ninja Excel skills, loves to create spreadsheets, formulas are their best friend and enjoys crunching numbers for breakfast. In addition, 2 or more years of accounting, auditing, reporting or financial analysis experience, preferably with an insurance company. The ideal candidate would be detail-oriented, sees solutions where problems exist, and can talk to other humans. If you are an Excel “guru” who is interested in experiencing full-cycle accounting, this may be the ideal job for you.
