About the Department:The University Controller’s Office is a department under the Division of Finance. The office has business units covering the following areas; Cash Management, Banking, and merchant services; General Accounting, Financial Reporting, and Taxation; AccountsPayable; Business Systems; Payroll and Debt Management.

The University Controller’s Office is responsible for fiscal accountability, accuracy and reporting of a $2.3 billion enterprise, including timely and accurate payment of monthly and biweekly wages to over 18,000 staff, faculty, student workers and temporary employees, over 110,000 vendor payments annually and management of a $480 million external debt portfolio.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of daily cash activities as the primary contact for our campus partners.
Key responsibilities include:
- Management of daily cash transactions; including claiming and classifying transactions from the State Bank
- Reconciliation of financial activity, state bank and commercial bank transactions
- Proper preparation of journal entries for reclassification and correction of financial data
- Communicate effectively with campus stakeholders and the Associate Controller to resolve issues
Bachelor’s degree with 12 credit hours of accounting coursework; or Associate’s degree in Accounting; or Associate’s degree in Business or related discipline with 12 credit hours of accounting coursework; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Other Required Qualifications:- Strong analytical with a knack for identifying and addressing issues effectively
- Technology skills such as 10Key/keyboarding, Microsoft Office and other general clerical skills
- Proven capability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Successful track record of interacting positively with staff at various organizational levels
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Substantial Cash Management processing experience
- Familiarity with PeopleSoft or equivalent software
- Previous exposure to the State of North Carolina systems, specifically NCFS and COREbanking
