This person would be responsible for a wide variety of accounting functions and preparing various accounting and financial reports with the primary focus of reconciling lending activities and lease accounting related to assets used for corporate purposes. This position performs advance accounting work under minimal supervision. Essential Functions:
- Perform accounting functions for lending activities:
- Perform daily balancing process for core system loans and external loans. Balance and reconcile payments, disbursements and other transactions. Research exceptions to find applicable resolution.
- Reconcile variety of loan product sales, resolving variances with applicable team.
- Reconcile mortgage and business loan closings accounts. Work with lending team on exceptions.
- Reconcile sale of loans to investors and subsequent post-closing suspense accounts.
- Balance and reconcile Mortgage Servicing Rights.
- Complete additional reconciliation work for audits and exams.
- Perform various accounting functions as needed to support the department.
- Perform accounting functions for Corporate Check Reconciliation:
- Balance outstanding checks to general ledger on a daily basis. Process/file maintain systems for stop payment orders and voids.
- Reconcile outstanding checks general ledger daily and monthly.
- Reconcile uncashed check general ledger. Notify members or internal departments with outstanding “stale” dated checks.
- Prepare report of “stale” dated checks as unclaimed properties.
- Reconcile in-clearing check file to general ledger and settlement daily.
- Perform other accounting functions:
- Ability to complete various tasks in back-up capacity.
- Perform various accounting functions as needed to support the department, including the various duties in back-up capacity.
- Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers and assist with simple accounting problems.
- Provide support to other departments as needed.
- Understand and is accountable for executing all job functions in a way that is consistent with all requirements of BSA, OFAC and the USA Patriot Act/Customer Identification Act (CIP). Note: Failure to comply with requirements may be subject to strong disciplinary action, up to and including termination by the credit union, as well as, civil and criminal penalties.
- Maintain knowledge of credit union products and services.
- Requires educational equivalent to a two-year accounting or business degree. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, economics or business preferred.
- One year experience in the accounting/operations of a retail financial institution or business related field preferred.
- Professional well developed interpersonal skills essential for interacting with credit union staff and members.
- Work requires ability to work accurately with figures and ability to perform detailed work.
- Requires the ability to follow-up on problems presented to members and co-workers using a customer service approach including use of investigative problem
- Intermediate mathematical skills required (calculations and concepts involving decimals, percentages, fractions, etc.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook, and intermediate knowledge of Excel.
