The Opportunity

POSITION SUMMARY

The Account Specialist (Local) plays a key role in building relationships with local employer partners and facilitating effective connections with local staff. 

Who We Are

The Center for Employment Opportunities (CEO) provides employment services to people recently released from incarceration. Across the United States, 8,000-9,000 participate in CEO each year, transitioning to employment that supports themselves, their families, and their communities.

What began as a demonstration project of the Vera Institute of Justice in the 1970s to address employment barriers facing the formerly incarcerated following release in New York City has grown into the leading reentry employment organization in the country, where over 30,000 formerly incarcerated individuals have secured full-time employment since 1996.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Employer Outreach and Account Management (50%)

  • Work closely with CEO's Sales, Inclusive Hiring, and job development functions to cultivate high-quality employer accounts for the assigned local site
  • Coordinate with local Business Account Managers (BAMs), connecting participants to their accounts
  • Support business development training of the local BAMs and provide ongoing mentorship in employer development
  • Leverage internal and external tools to identify priority employers, included but not limited to CEO's CORE data, industry & market tools
  • Conduct proactive employer outreach to priority employers, including those in target industries in alignment with CEO's program sites
  • Effectively cultivate and manage new & existing employer relationships for partnership across CEO's employment services (e.g. placement, Inclusive Hiring)
  • Support continued engagement and deepening of existing employer accounts
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Matching (50%)

  • Make direct connections between account contacts and local job developers, while continuing to maintain overall account management responsibilities
  • Work closely with local job developers to ensure effective employer engagement continues seamlessly
  • Act as liaison between CEO and employer, sharing and addressing feedback about applicant experience and CEO's job matching
  • Other duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience 

  • Skilled in networking and cultivating lasting relationships with people and businesses, helping them understand how our work can help them achieve their business strategy and goals 
  • Experience working to source talent for employers
  • Experience working with community partners and employers
  • Proficiency in use of Google suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides) and Salesforce
  • Those who have been directly impacted by the criminal legal system are strongly encouraged to apply


Competencies

  • Highly organized and motivated to help attract, develop, and direct quality relationships with employers at a national scale
  • Comfort conducting employer outreach and generating leads through all means necessary, including cold calling, conferences, LinkedIn, etc. 
  • Enthusiastic about building support for reentry and workforce development
  • Self-motivated, diligent, resilient, and demonstrate stamina and vigor as you hold yourself accountable to deadlines and outcomes, even in the face of adversity or setbacks
  • Strong writing and strategic communication skills across audiences from entry- to senior-level staff, with the ability to adjust to particular personalities and interaction styles on the spot
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and follow-up skills
  • Comfortable working under pressure and meeting deadlines despite opposition or setbacks 
  • Highly organized with top notch time management skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities seamlessly or ask for support with prioritization when needed

 

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $60,400-63,000. In an effort to be both equitable and transparent, CEO's compensation philosophy considers a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, experience, internal equity, and home office location in making a final determination on our salary offer.

We recognize that salary is a part of the overall compensation package and provide a comprehensive benefits package, including medical and dental coverage, professional development opportunities and training, including regular training opportunities in Motivational Interviewing (MI). MI is one evidence-based skill that reentry and human service professionals can utilize when supporting participants to achieve their goals.
