Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The Accommodated Testing Assistant is a full time non-exempt position that reports to the Coordinator of Accommodated Testing in the Accessibility and Disability Service (ADS). This position’s primary responsibilities are assisting with test preparation and administration for UMD students with testing accommodations. The Accommodated Testing office prepares about 14,000 exams annually; both the number of exams and students with testing accommodations continues to increase.
Exam Preparation:
Exam Preparation:
- Print exam materials provided by course instructors according to specific guidelines
- Prepare testing envelopes for individual student reservations with necessary supplies (i.e. labels, exam answer booklets, scantrons, etc.)
- Prepare and verify next day exams are organized correctly according to room rosters
- Regularly take accountability for exam preparation steps through thorough documentation of each step.
Exam Administration:
- Serve as a room proctor or break proctor as needed
- Proctor assistive technology exams, troubleshooting software and equipment as needed
- Execute proctoring duties with focus and professionalism
- Proctors are responsible for:
- Verifying student ID for exam security
- Reviewing exam instructions with each student
- Informing each student of their accommodation(s) and end time
- Ensure that requested accommodations are implemented and timing is accurate
- Observe students during the testing period to ensure test integrity
- Record & notify Testing Office of any irregularities
- Follow and implement test complete/checkout procedures
- Maintain organization, office cleanliness and order
- Serve as a reader or scribe as needed
- Other duties as assigned, such as filing and scanning, during low volume periods
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED
Experience:
- 3 years experience providing administrative support.
Other: Applicants may be required to complete the institutionâ??s required skills assessment to be considered. Some positions require specific skills such as word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, database, email or calendaring software, and Internet proficiency.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
General knowledge of and skill in the practical application of generally accepted office practices and procedures. Ability to communicate effective both orally and in writing. Ability to proofread and edit written documents. Skill in various computer software packages, such as word processing, spreadsheets, database, and presentation programs, Internet, email and calendaring software. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to interact effectively with internal and external parties in a courteous and efficient manner. Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and execute multiple and continuing assignments with general instructions.
Other:
Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
