WFORCE Toxicology and Pharmacokinetics Faculty job description

 

The Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine and the Wake Forest Comprehensive Cancer Center, located in Winston-Salem North Carolina, are seeking candidates for a faculty position at the Assistant Professor level with proven expertise in experimental and clinical toxicology and pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics (PK/PD) analyses. The specific role of this position is to apply PK/PD concepts in innovative and cutting-edge clinical and/or translational toxicology research. The new faculty member will be operating in a multidisciplinary environment so a willingness to collaborate across functional teams is essential. The new faculty member should have an aptitude and desire to learn and apply new techniques and is expected to possess personal attributes of integrity, creativity, problem solving, and a strong work ethic.

 

The successful candidate will join the Wake Forest Organoid Research Center (WFORCE), a joint effort between the Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine and the Wake Forest Comprehensive Cancer Center. WFORCE brings together researchers and clinicians, who are working side by side, to leverage the use of tissue organoid technology for the benefit of our patients. One of the primary focus of WFORCE is to leverage reconstruction of patient-specific 3D tissue organoids and apply it translationally, with a goal of informing personalized treatment of a verity of diseases, including cancer, as well as research and development of new therapies.

 

Generous packages will be provided to start up and sustain the laboratories of successful candidates. The Wake Forest School of Medicine offers numerous subsidized, state-of-the-art core facilities open to all investigators, as well as several NIH-funded programs to support graduate student and postdoctoral training.

 

Required Qualifications: PharmD, PhD or MD with Post Graduate toxicology training and PK/PD analyses. Experience in working with PK/PD applications to clinical and translational research, with a focus on drug toxicity in in vitro and in an organ-system based in vivo models.

It is expected that the new recruit will have the ability to establish his/her research program and team through independent research funding. Specifically, demonstrated research productivity including evidence of an independently funded research - preferably ending after June 2026.

In addition, experience in working with interdisciplinary research teams, as well as collaborations with other Wake Forest School of Medicine's faculty members and their projects. Experience in university teaching, and mentoring members of underrepresented groups is a plus.
