Created to motivate and assist Beeville Independent School District high school students to pursue post-secondary educations, the Joe Barnhart Scholarship Program has benefited 1,650 students since 1997. This collaboration between a public school and a private foundation provides mentorship and career path exploration to all students. A professional staff and volunteers work individually with students to counsel, encourage and assist them in completing paperwork necessary for obtaining college admission and financial aid.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
Two years of documented experience working with students in an educational setting.
Reliable transportation to work site daily and to off-site meetings and college campus visits.
Above average communication - verbal and written.
Hours: Monday - Friday 7:45 AM - 4:00 PM
Attend special events hosted by the Joe Barnhart Foundation and/or JBSP
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Represent the Foundation in a responsible manner - public relations are a priority.
Carry out all Joe Barnhart Scholarship Program policies as specified by the Foundation.
Promote awareness of the JBSP mission, programs and events in the community.
Encourage students to maximize their educational growth.
Publicize The Joe Barnhart Scholarship Program during campus registration and attend campus meetings.
Interact with students, parents, A. C. Jones High School staff, Moreno Jr. High, volunteers, Beeville Independent School District staff and Coastal Bend College.
Assist with the Scholarship Program activities such as Mentor/Students meetings, yearly appreciation function, Evening of Excellence, and associated meetings.
Work with campus level committees and community representatives. Articulate the scholarship program's mission and secure the support of these groups.
Attend routine staff meetings and all JBF sponsored field trips.
Scholarships - Maintain and update all scholarship information.
Student Aid (one-on-one, groups, and parents) - the process and completion of:
College (4-year colleges) and Scholarship applications - Assist with application, fee waiver forms, transcript requests, essay completion, resume, and immunization records.
Financial aid applications.
o Standardized test registration and fee waiver form: ACT, SAT and TSI.
o Joe Barnhart Scholars Award application (for qualifying students), Gap Scholarship, and community scholarships.
o 2024 Mentor/Student support - Assist and support mentors and meet with the mentors' students if they are unavailable. Reinforce timelines and keeping on track
