Position is contract based and is subject to renewals every fiscal yearLimited Term End Date6-30-2024Position SummaryThe Director of Film Programs at Central New Mexico Community College is responsible for overseeing and advancing the college's film and media-related academic initiatives. This role involves strategic planning, program development, faculty supervision, student engagement, and collaboration with industry professionals. The Director will contribute to the growth and success of the college's Film Programs, ensuring they meet the needs of students and the evolving demands of the film industry.
This position provides oversight of one or more programs within the academic Schools. Is responsible for administration, planning, development and coordination of all aspects of program management. Duties may include responsibility for education outcomes assessment, ensuring compliance with accreditation and licensing regulations, and program development.Duties & Responsibilities
- Provides direction, administration and evaluation of academic programs; develops short and long range goals and provides recommendations to ensure alignment with strategic initiatives of the School.
- Directs program development, planning, implementing and evaluating curriculum development and student learning experiences.
- Works in cooperation with department leadership in the recruitment and assignment of faculty and the development of the master schedule for course offerings.
- Stays abreast of accreditation standards and applicable licensure regulations; ensures programs meet compliance requirements.
- May manage student recruitment, orientation and advisement activities; works with community and business partners to develop educational opportunities and field experiences for students.
- Manages grants and contracts, working with CNM Contracts & Grants Office to develop program budgets, monitor expenses and allocation of funds.
- Reviews, analyzes, and provides reporting on student outcomes assessments.
- Coordinates, develops and maintains collaborative community partnerships with external agencies, business and industry organizations to promote program initiatives; leverages community resources to market program offerings; may participates in local, regional, and state organizations and stakeholder teams.
- Manages and oversees advisory committee activities; mentors and provides supervision of faculty and staff.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Film Studies, Communication, Media Arts, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in program development, curriculum design, or academic administration.
- Demonstrated experience with stakeholder engagement and collaboration.
- Experience in budget management and resource allocation.
Preferences:
- Teaching experience in film studies, production, or related areas at the collegiate level.
- Industry experience on a film set.
- Demonstrated experience in program development, curriculum design, and academic administration.
- Proven leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and mentor a diverse team of faculty and staff.
- Excellent communication, networking, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong industry connections and knowledge of Film industry trends and practices.
- Master’s degree in film or related field.
- Experience in budget management and resource allocation.
- Commitment to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and equitable educational environment.
