Hancock County Government is seeking full timeDispatcher(s) to fill a vacancy in our Regional Communications Center (RCC).
The Dispatcher assists the public by taking both emergency and non-emergency calls for service and dispatch that information to the proper responding fire departments, emergency medical services or law enforcement agencies in the county as required. This position requires shift work with scheduled and occasional short notice overtime, and includes overnights, weekends and holidays. The position will be on a 48/36 hour rotating basis after training. The position receives full benefits.
Required: High School diploma or equivalent, valid Driver’s license, computer proficiency to include Microsoft Office/Word, knowledge of county and towns geographic layout. Must successfully complete the following within six months of employment: terminal operator control course, CPR and Emergency Medical Dispatching Course. Must possess excellent communication skills and ability to remain calm and maintain control in stressful situations.
Preferred: Minimum one (1) year in the Public Safety field and previous experience in radio communications desired. Applicants without previous experience must be able to obtain all required certifications for continued employment within the first six months of employment.
