4Th And 5Th Grade General Music Teacher 2024-25

Ravenscroft is an independent, coeducational day school in Raleigh, NC, with approximately 1,250 students in grades PreK-12.

Reports to: Director of Fine Arts
As a 4th and5th Grade General Music Teacher at Ravenscroft, here is what you get to do:

• Plan and execute lessons for our fourth and fifth Grade General Music classes.
• Select music and conduct grade level performances.
• Teach in the private lessons program as needed.
• Maintain music library and instrument inventory.
• Maintain budget for General Music.
• Co-Conduct the fourth and fifth grade after school choir "Raving Ravens".
• Collaborate with Lower School General Music teacher for grades PreK-3.
• Collaborate with Middle and Upper School Choirs and/or the musical team.
• Demonstrate cultural competence and the ability to connect with a diverse community of students, faculty, staff, and parents
• Communicate with parents.
• Provide information for the development of the yearly fine arts calendar with the Fine Arts Department.
• Collaborate with other ensemble Directors in rehearsals and performances as needed.
• Serve on Fine Arts and school committees, as needed.
• Participate in an individual professional development plan.

Qualifications:
Must possess excellent musical performance and pedagogical skills in the deportment of Lower School General Music. Must possess organizational and communication skills. Must show demonstrated experience in working with individual classes, combined grade levels, and studio teaching. Experience in teaching lower school age students preferred. Master degree or doctorate in music (performance or education) preferred. Evidence of personal performance in high level performing ensembles preferred. Must be able to meet physical requirements of the position.
