Position: Business Origination Specialist Team Lead
Department: Credit Administration
Reports to: Credit Administration Manager
FLSA: Exempt
SUMMARY
Business Origination Specialist Team Lead will report to the Credit Administration Manager and will be responsible for leading Business Origination Specialist, Business Service Contact Specialist, and Loan Servicing Specialist positions. Primary responsibility will be the assurance of accurate processing of commercial loan/deposit applications in compliance with credit union policies, meeting credit union guidelines and demonstrating credit union strategies. Coordinates the assembling of both new loan application packages and renewals and oversees the loan application process to funding/boarding to assure compliance with policies and regulations. Reviews loan documentation packages, engages attorneys, and ensures accurate loan documentation for closings in a multi-state environment. Prepares routine business reports and provides support in many other facets of the department. Works with multiple loan officers as well as supporting the Vice President of Business Services. Maintains thorough knowledge of both Business Services and Consumer products and services, policies procedures and regulatory requirements.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervision of Business Origination Specialist, Business Service Contact Specialist, and Loan Servicing Specialist positions including but not limited to scheduling and training employees; assigning and directing work; evaluating performance; coaching, counseling, rewarding and disciplining employees; recommending employees for promotion, transfer, and termination.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Maintains thorough familiarity with business owners and is the primary contact on a day-to-day basis.
  • Assists front-line team members with questions or issues regarding business loans/deposit accounts.
  • Assists lenders in properly completing the application in Credit Quest.
  • Assists the Credit Administration Manager and the Vice President of Business Services in providing all necessary items for NCUA examinations as well as Internal and External audits.
  • Assists the Credit Administration Manager and the Vice President of Business Services in working with the Information Technology Department in creating, revising, or monitoring reports for Business Services.
  • Assists the Credit Administration Manager and the Vice President of Business Services in providing all necessary items and reports requested by the credit union's Senior Management Team.
  • Analyzes loan requests for business clients and ensure proper documentation for these type loans (real estate, equipment, vehicle and unsecured) in compliance with KFCU policy and applicable regulations.
  • Responds to caller's needs by assembling the appropriate loan application package based on the type and loan amount.
  • Maintain an extensive knowledge of member relationships.
  • Meets with and follows up with borrowers to obtain sensitive and confidential information needed to complete loan packages.
  • Ensures proper ordering of Title Commitments and HUD closing statements.
  • Final review of loan documents, Title Commitments, insurance, property inspection reports, appraisal reviews, environmental questionnaires, property inspection reports, disbursements and HUD closing Statements to ensure accuracy, completeness, proper approval and to ensure timely closings.
  • Maintains proper closing documents utilizing the Laser Pro software.
  • Understanding of all state specific document requirements.
  • Resolves all closing issues, including legal, documentation, or policy deficiencies.
  • Engage attorneys to schedule closings.
  • Reviews attorney prepared Title work: identifies exceptions and works with attorneys to correct the documentation.
  • Coordinates/conducts closings, answering technical questions posed by borrower and attorney.
  • Assists in opening/updating loan applications and deposit accounts.
  • Ensure proper HMDA tracking in complete and accurate.
  • Obtains multiple appraisal quotes, engages appraisers, and ensures committed dates are adhered to for the purposes of maintaining the integrity of arms-length distance required by Federal Regulations.
  • Detailed understanding of the business loan origination process including Credit Quest and Laser Pro.
  • Decision maker concerning loan document requests that are outside the normal origination process so as not to delay closings.
  • Verifies through Symitar that deposit accounts have been opened properly and that Member and Product Due Diligence has been performed correctly.
  • Knowledge of the Symitar Core.
  • Ensure loan payoffs on loans are accurate.
  • Prepares, reviews, and distributes reports out of Credit Quest and Laser Pro.
  • Prepares or assists in the preparation of assigned report and KPI.
  • Attends compliance and KFCU related meetings and training sessions necessary to maintain proficiency in regulatory compliance.
  • Any duties deemed necessary by the Credit Administration Manager to assist in the management and organization of the Business Services department.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
  • A two-year college degree, or
  • completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or
  • completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or
  • job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.

Experience and Other Requirements:
Five years to eight years of similar or related experience.
Business Services Competencies:
Must possess exceptional knowledge and understanding of financial institution guidelines and all aspects of business member relationships.
Computer Skills:
  • Detailed understanding of Credit Quest and LaserPro.
  • Detailed understanding of the Symitar Core, Synergy, and Synapsis
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint.

Interpersonal Skills:
Must demonstrate professionalism, must be able to handle complex member inquiries in an assertive and tactful manner. Must be able to establish and meet deadlines. Must be able manage a number of priorities simultaneously and perform the job with accuracy and attention to detail.
