What do we do?

Azure Summit Technology provides a wide range of multi-channel, software-defined radio solutions for applications including surveillance, communications, radar, direction finding, emitter location, and interference cancellation. Systems can be tailored to meet a variety of requirements for bandwidth, dynamic range, number of channels, and computational resources. Supported platforms range from resource-constrained small UAVs and wearable devices to manned aircraft and submarines. Azure also offers innovative signal processing solutions to challenging problems in the realm of radio frequency spectrum awareness.

What will you do?
Azure Summit Technology is currently seeking an Electronics Manufacturing Engineer. The selected candidate will be part of a dynamic, growing, cross-functional, and geographically distributed team. This position is located on-site at our Melbourne, Florida, office, with occasional overnight travel to our Fairfax, Virginia, headquarters location or contract manufacturing facility in Baltimore, Maryland, and various customer sites as required. Your future team has worked together to produce the following job description:

The selected candidate will be responsible for manufacturing Azure’s complex PCBs and PCBAs. This individual will work with design engineering, production operations, and the various suppliers, especially PCB fab houses and assembly houses, i.e., contract manufacturers (CM), to ensure manufacturing success from NPI to FRP. Duties will include, but not be limited to:

  • Technically audit PCB fab and CMs to assess their suitability for various jobs and to correct problems.
  • Work with design engineering and CM to develop custom manufacturing processes for building complex boards during the NPI process including DFM analysis.
  • Work with third party independent lab(s) to validate fab house and CM processes wrt compliance to IPC-6012 and IPC-A-610 respectively.
  • Work on continuous process improvement.
  • Monitoring of circuit board lots (collecting statistics) to identify issues and to gauge yield improvement/decline wrt process changes.
  • Evaluate PCBs and PCBAs for acceptance or rejection on the basis of applicable ISO standards with the aim of using this information to make and track process improvement.
  • Qualification and development of suppliers for components and sub-assemblies.
  • Read and interpret Engineering drawings, finished prints, specifications, and schematics for proper application to production processes.
  • Understand ERP framework as it relates to manufacturing operations e.g. BOM prep/load, part numbers, manufacturing work instructions, routers, process and time standards, which includes sequences of fabrication, assembly, installation, etc
  • Confer with suppliers to determine product specifications, and manage equipment, material and parts purchase.
  • Interface between production and quality to ensure defect-free production process, tooling, and equipment.
  • Process and manage ECNs.
  • Create and maintain standards for material and labor.
  • Create and maintain documentation of various sorts, including but not limited to the circuit board assembly process.

Basic Requirements:

  • US citizenship – due to the nature of the work and contract requirement
  • Ability to obtain a TOP SECRET/SCI security clearance – due to contract requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent degree
  • 5 years’ experience in an Electronics Manufacturing environment

 

Preferred Requirements:

  • TOP SECRET/SCI clearance
  • Experience working at an electronics CM and/or PCB fab house. 
  • Working knowledge of IPC-6012, IPC-A-600, IPC-A-610, and J-STD-001 standards.
  • Experience with circuit board SMT line equipment. 
  • Ability to review and understand DFM analysis - develop processes to mitigate design challenges/issues
  • Effective analytical, planning, and organizational skills and ability to work independently and jointly on problem solving. 
  • Available for travel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and related applications.
  • Ability to generate and perform FMEA's and PFMEA's.
