THE POSITION
Would you like to participate in the management and protection of wildlife and their habitats while promoting hunting and trapping for current and future generations? The Pennsylvania Game Commission is hiring a 3 Year, limited-term, Forest Technician to help support this mission. Gain valuable experience and participate in an innovative and proactive stewardship of wildlife and their habitats by joining our team.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Forest Technician, you will provide technical support and assistance to regional forestry staff in State Game Lands. Your primary focus will be forest habitat management activities promoting young forest conditions. This includes surveying and marking boundaries of timber sales, herbicide areas, and other forest habitat treatments. You also will have the opportunity to assist foresters in data collection for stand analysis, sale layouts, and other management activities. You will also be responsible for maintaining tools and equipment used in daily operations.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week.
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • An associate's degree in forest technology; or
  • Completion of equivalent formal education in forestry.

Conditions of Employment:
  • You must possess a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.

Other Requirements:
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
