Job Summary
The role of Shift Manager is to provide leadership and drive execution of manufacturing functions; and to manage these tasks directly. The shift manager's key challenge is to maintain production within specific guidelines for production efficiency, labor cost, product rework, waste amounts, and control of on-hold product, while utilizing best practices. Daily engagement with cross functional departments to ensure production goals are achieved. (30% of daily)

Helping to create a work environment that people enjoy daily is critical for this position. This will require you to prioritize a minimum of (40% of Daily) on the floor engaging with team members and Supervisors to ensure they have everything required to be successful daily. Responsible for creating a sense of belonging and ensuring employees know how their role impacts the company and community.
You will be challenged to drive improvement daily through Fab, Weld, Sub area & Final Assembly. Implementing new technology that drives processes automatically reducing the need for manual processing. This Role will work closely with Ops Process Eng and CI Eng to ensure best practices are implemented and maintained, execution and time frame will be key elements for success in this role. (30% of daily). This position is critical in our culture to become a data driven organization and will be responsible for collecting and entering data for defined metrics.
Key Responsibilities

  • Be a Positive floor leader while protecting our employee Safety and Customer Quality by taking proactive actions daily, executing production goals and driving results.
  • Achieve 97% On Time Delivery in accordance with custom delivery dates; achieve 98% OTD internally across all departments with a "OWN IT" mindset daily.
  • Drive employee development as a core value to ensure plant adaptability to new business and secure employee retention through advancement.
  • Know desired KPI for plant and take personal accountability to achieve by setting direction for plant operations daily.
  • Execute changes presented by Project Eng & CI Eng (Manage teams performing work/ hold team member accountable to follow new processes once implemented).
  • Complete daily/weekly Gemba within all responsible areas (Fab, Weld, Sub, Assembly) with Supervisor and area employees to have a proper understanding of what is required daily.
  • Maximize the efficiency of production lines and ensure effective employment utilization, consistently review for where labor should be decreased or reassigned.
  • Problem solves daily issues and implements countermeasures to ensure problems are eliminated. Solution driven mindset is critical.
  • Removes barriers that prevent meeting target metrics, such as poor quality, missing defined processes, tool shortages and staffing.
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager.

Job Qualifications
Required:
  • Minimum of 10 years of related experience and/or bachelor's degree.
  • Industry relevant production experience in a Lean environment.
  • Tangible track record of improving organizational effectiveness and operations management.
  • Knowledge of business and management, HR, and project management principles and practices.
  • Must possess excellent computer skills (Microsoft applications (i.e. excel, word, PPT, etc).
  • Must have leadership, coaching and mentoring skills.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills and possess a "can-do" with quality first attitude and take "ownership" over initiatives.
