Hastings Mutual is looking for Computer Systems Operator to join our Data Center operations team! This is a great opportunity for an individual looking to enter the infrastructure side of IT Operations and support our daily operations for this critical business area.
Position Overview
The individual in this role will perform the basic tasks required to operate the Systems used in the Hastings Mutual IT environment, including performing necessary maintenance tasks of associated peripherals used in the Data Center in addition to processing and distributing various enterprise reports. This role will have limited interaction with employees, vendors, and business partners, and works in an environmentally controlled workspace. There will be some light physical labor (i.e. moving boxes, cleaning equipment, etc.).

- Hewlett-Packard Servers
- Control-M Job Scheduling Software
Position Location & Work Format
Position Duties & Responsibilities
- Performs Systems Operation activities, such as responding to messages, displaying queues, determining status, and canceling or purging tasks.
- Performs System Printer(s) Operational activities, such as re-supplying forms, adding toner, cleaning, loading forms, making normal operator adjustments, and responding to routine system messages.
- Processes and distributes outputs.
- Performs Job Scheduler activities, i.e. runs all schedules, such as daily, weekly, monthly, on-request schedules, etc.
- Performs basic troubleshooting. Identifies hardware or software errors and types, documents, and follows appropriate procedures.
- Recovers or restarts jobs terminated by hardware or software failures as documented.
- Actively participates in professional development, i.e. continuing education or self-improvement.
- Other duties as assigned by leadership, either verbally or in writing.
Candidate Requirements & Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required. College work or degree a plus.
- Technical Certifications such as A+ or similar are desired.
- Experience with Control-M Job Scheduling Software highly desired.
- Demonstrated problem-solving ability required.
- Knowledge of basic PC and Microsoft office products.
- Experience working within IT operations setting is helpful.
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to type efficiently, both regular keyboard and 10-Key.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.
- Punctuality and dependability are required, given the nature of a support-level role.
- Ability to work any shift as needed and assigned.
