ABOUT THE ROLE
The 2nd Press Operator prepares, operates, and maintains the web press as efficiently as possible. Good communication skills, strong follow-up, and the ability to write well are all important to the job as communication between customers and other departments is needed.
This position also requires a high level of knowledge as it pertains to the multiple production, printing, and finishing line processes, as well as manufacturing capabilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Interact with the press schedule and ticket accordingly.
- Interact with clients in a professional manner.
- Produce quality print in the most efficient manner.
- Follows pressroom procedures for control sheets, charging time & material, load tags, FSC stock, and samples.
- Perform needed maintenance on the press.
- Maintain presses and pressroom in a clean and professional manner.
- Use and maintain the Image Control unit (auto register and color).
- Develop and train staff as assigned.
- Interface with other departments through written and verbal communications to handle customer situations, problems, and questions.
- Incorporate DCG ONE’s vision and values into day-to-day activities and behaviors.
- Adheres to all facets of safety policies and procedures.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- At least (5) years of experience with operating printing press machinery.
- High level of knowledge as it pertains to the multiple production, printing, and paper finishing processes/capabilities, including ink and water balance, plate register, web tension, various folding configurations.
- High level of mechanical aptitude.
- Proven knowledge of warehouse policies and procedures.
EDUCATION/LICENCES/CERTIFICATION/FORMAL TRAINING

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to stand on feet for long periods of time
- Requires prolonged walking throughout the plant
- Must have the ability to move and lift materials and products weighing up to 60 lbs. as needed
- Prolonged standing, lifting, stretching for up to 12 hours
- Full hand dexterity, fingering required
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position is predominantly held in a clerical environment but will need to work also on the production floor in an industrial warehouse setting.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. Ear plugs are required.
