Bull's Bridge Golf Club, a premier Tom Fazio design tucked away in the rolling hills of Connecticut's pristine Litchfield County, seeks an ambitious 2nd Assistant Superintendent to maintain the #6 course in the state by Golf Digest.

As part of the progressive leadership team, you will work directly with the Head Superintendent and collaborate closely with your peers and oversee a range of daily tasks from chemical inventory management and applications to using the latest technologies and management techniques.  

INITIAL PRIORITIES

  • Play an active role managing chemical inventory, chemical and fertilizer applications including Turf Cloud record keeping.
  • Develop water management skills through both irrigation system maintenance and hand-watering practices.
  • Supervisory responsibilities include monitoring work assignments, overseeing job performance and inspecting course conditions. 
  • Develops fundamental awareness of daily course conditioning practices, communication protocols, workflows and improves team outcomes.
  • Play active role in upcoming Golf Course construction projects and grow in.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

WHAT'S A DAY IN THE LIFE AT BULL'S BRIDGE FOR THE 2ND ASSISTANT?

  • Monitoring and maintaining in-ground soil sensors to ensure accurate, up-to date data is used for informed agronomic decisions.
  • Evaluating the storage of necessary chemicals, fertilizers and equipment for safekeeping on site. Keeping meticulous records of all application activities that can be accessed via our digital greenkeeper website or other relevant programs.
  • Maintaining impeccable standards when it comes to Golf Courses assets - ensuring members receive a top quality experience.
  • Being proactive in providing optimal conditions even without direct supervision; this position requires an alert mind always ready with actionable solutions.
  • With an eye for detail, assess daily work assignments and provide valuable guidance on job procedures.
  • Execute planned tasks independently in accordance to Superintendent orders - making sure no lapses occur!
  • Lead by example with quality execution that adheres to Superintendent objectives while having the insightfulness to identify when planned tasks can't be accomplished as desired.
  • Collaborating closely with the Equipment Manager, this role is responsible for ensuring that all equipment required to complete daily tasks, aerification and other special projects are ready-to-go.
  • Repairs & maintenance of irrigation systems - including logging any data into records or logbooks along with GPS mapping capabilities.
  • Manage the Audubon program to improve our environmental impact, while producing a yearly report detailing progress made and areas requiring improvement.
  • Being able to lead communications effectively combined with strong action follow up skills + personnel management/scheduling proficiency rounds out responsibilities in this vital position

All actions taken hold true in their pursuit of success - always acting in the best interest of Golf Course excellence!
  • Knowledge of and/or ability to play the game of golf and understand how job performance affects the playing conditions of the Golf Course.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Knowledge of agronomy, turfgrass science, chemicals, fertilizers, weather, and the game of golf.
  • At least 2-years of Golf Course maintenance experience or related field.
  • A certificate, associate degree in plant science, or related field is preferred (willing to train someone with minimal education).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain state certification or licensing as a pesticide applicator.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PPT and various apps and web-based programs used in the Golf Course industry 
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
