POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Software Developer is responsible for the development and support of high-volume rich and innovative web applications and products (online, social media, applications, connected devices, mobile, small/TV screens, etc.) for truTV's brand family in a fast-paced, agile and team-oriented environment.
Works as a team member on developing software applications, data aggregation/syndication scripts, content management templates and workflows. This position requires expertise in web application development for desktop, mobile and connected devices (Android, Blackberry, iPhone, TVs), expert knowledge of server¿side scripting using PHP, interfacing with Social Media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Blog development, etc.), mashup development (Google APIs, etc.) and content management system template development and customization (Interwoven, WordPress, etc.).
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Works on development, integration, deployment, and support of systems, applications, templates, scripts, and other processes that deliver web content to the Internet, mobile and connected devices for truTV's brand family. Follows application development process (SDLC) methodology.
Software development tasks include: coding, testing, debugging, documenting, peer-reviewing, deploying, monitoring and support. Assignments are executed both independently and paired with other developers.
Works on maintaining company Web Farm and hosting network in a heavily loaded production environment. Manages operations of external/internal web servers running on LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) platform.
Collaborates with multiple cross-functional teams of developers, product managers, project managers, web masters and designers; works on collaborative projects with Turner¿s AMPT developers and 3rd party vendors.
Provides operational support during working hours (including occasional weekend and off-hours support); acts as first tier of support for any urgent application problems and emergencies.
QUALIFICATION:
3-5 years experience in web application development on Linux/Unix platform with LAMP stack (MySQL, PHP, Perl). Experience with other server side technologies (ASP.NET, ASP, MS SQL Server, Java, Python, Ruby).
Experience with configuration and maintenance of enterprise-level Content Management Systems (Interwoven's TeamSite, Vignette, etc.)
Experience working directly with clients identifying their needs, gathering requirements and finding solutions.
Experience in web systems architecture and administration (Linux, Apache, IIS, MySQL, DNS, Mail Servers). Extensive knowledge of Internet networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP, SMTP, DNS; firewalls, load balancers, routers). Experience building and managing production environments for large and heavily trafficked sites using enterprise level systems.
Expert knowledge of all user-facing web standards and technologies including HTML/XHTML, DHTML, CSS, JavaScript and AJAX, along with mobile web technologies, mobile applications, connected devices and TV.
Extensive experience integrating 3rd party content (widgets, feeds) and services (ads, analytics, video); use of web services (REST, SOAP, XML-RPC) and APIs (Google, Facebook, Twitter); and creating mashups.
Working knowledge of customization, configuration and maintenance of websites using a Content Management System (CMS).
Experience working in the fast paced media production industry with multiple projects and changing priorities.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS :

Able to focus on mundane functions of operational support as well as the rigors of high demand projects.
Works with the development team to provide first tier operational support for any urgent application problems. This includes occasional weekend and off-hours support.
