Description
Position Summary: The Video Producer works within a creative team of videographers and editors to produce high quality video content of KEXP's live performances and other events for online and other uses. The Video Producer shoots and edits footage, and prepares a wealth of video content for distribution through a variety of internal and external channels, including KEXP online platforms and partnerships.
Essential duties include, but are not limited to:
- Responsible for filming live performances and other KEXP-related events and editing footage into finished video clips while maintaining a consistent and established aesthetic.
- Leads team of videographers and directs multi-camera video shoots of live sessions and other events, and asserts creative control of lighting, camera angles, exposure and other elements in order to maintain established standards and aesthetic.
- Able to perform all aspects of a video shoot, from set up to filming to breakdown, by oneself when necessary.
- Maintains consistent, timely and accurate documentation of all elements of video sessions and organizes all files, logs, and spreadsheets relating to video footage and content effectively.
- Maintains KEXP video equipment in good working order; responsible for understanding how to operate all KEXP video equipment and able to demonstrate effective usage to other videographers.
- Researches new video-related technologies and software and defines how they might apply to the needs of the KEXP video department; orders new equipment when necessary.
- Coordinates with and schedules other videographers for video shoots, while being able to assess the needs of a given shoot with the number, skill set and availability of other videographers.
- Reviews and assess footage and edits completed by oneself and by others in order to provide feedback and to make adjustments for improvement, in order to best uphold and ensure creative standards.
- Communicates clearly with a team of paid and volunteer videographers during a shoot in order to meet established quality standards and output targets.
- Manages and executes video project assignments as established by senior Programming staff.
General Organizational Responsibilities:
- Maintains thorough understanding of KEXP organizational policies, including employee handbook, procedures, expense reporting, and payroll submission; follows policies and leads by example.
- Actively participates in our culture of philanthropy, which honors the important role our donors, volunteers, business and community partners play in the life of KEXP. Collaborates across teams and departments to steward donors on behalf of KEXP and actively seeks opportunities to integrate philanthropy into their role within KEXP operations, programs, and projects.
Supervision Received: Position reports to the Video & Live Performances Manager.
Supervision Exercised: Works with volunteers, interns, and part-time videographers during video shoots and post-production; functional supervision over project teams as assigned.
Requirements
Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree and three years of experience in video shooting and editing; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as listed above.
Position Qualifications:
- Understanding of and ability to use current video equipment and technology.
- Excellent digital editing skills, including a demonstrated ability to use industry standard software such as Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere.
- Excellent computer skills, including a demonstrated ability to manage digital files and shared spreadsheets.
- Must be able to work an irregular schedule, including evenings or weekends as needed and additional hours during peak times, or as required.
- Outstanding attention to detail.

- Ability to take initiative and use independent judgment within established policy and procedural guidelines.

Physical Requirements: Long periods of being in a stationary position; operating a computer and other office equipment; frequently moving to/from various work areas; frequently moving through a space while handling and operating video equipment; frequently communicating by phone and email; frequently remaining in a stationary position during meetings, discerning meeting content, expressing oneself, and exchanging accurate information; frequently moving to/from off-site meeting and/or event locations; frequently moves supplies and/or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
Working Conditions: Primary location in typical business office environment, with frequent meetings and event attendance at a variety of off-site locations.
Compensation & Benefits: This full-time, exempt position includes an annual salary of $73,000. KEXP also offers a generous benefits package which includes medical/dental/vision coverage (premiums 90% employer paid), retirement plan with matching, vacation starting at three weeks per year plus holidays and sick leave, and much more.
