Customer Experience & Insights (CxI) provides high quality insights on the market environment for relevant disease areas based on publicly available brand and market information, non-publicly available market intelligence, and market research.
Competitive Intelligence (CI) is a team of strategists with a diverse set of backgrounds within CxI that synthesizes medical, scientific, and commercial information from the external environment to drive decision-making for the Roche/Genentech portfolio. As an Intern on the Global Competitive Intelligence team, you will act as a strategic business partner to the I2O teams including Integrated Strategy Leaders (ISL), Lifecycle Leaders (LCLs), Project Team Leaders (PTLs), Disease Area Directors (DADs), Product and Portfolio Planning, Partnering, Disease Area Teams (DATs), Product Development, and other cross functional teams.
This internship position is located inSouth San Francisco or Fully Remote.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing objective competitive assessments and analyses to enable effective and informed decision-making. This includes insights on multifaceted market changes and competition that impact business decisions and strategy.
- Identifying shifting standards of care, emerging development trends, and potential opportunities for future development for our molecules. You bring recognition of emergent agents, MoAs, platforms, and modalities to identify threats and opportunities.
- Influencing key internal development and commercialization decisions. You drive translation of competitive findings into business recommendations that deliver success for the organization.
- Actively identifying CI information, data collection, and insight communication to varied collaborators. You identify available data sources, collect Competitive Intelligence, and synthesize information for commercial, medical, and scientific leaders
Program Highlights
- Intensive 12-weeks, full time (40 hours per week) paid internship.
- Program start dates are in May/June (Summer)
- A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship.

Who You Are
Required Education: You meet one of the following criteria:
- Must have attained a Bachelor's degree, attained or are pursuing a Master's/MBA degree, or attained or are pursuing a PhD degree
Required majors: Business Administration, Bioengineering/Biomedical Engineering, Biological Sciences, Pharmaceuticals, Life Sciences
Required skills:
- Excellent written/verbal communication; demonstrated ability to effectively interact with executives & senior leadership
- Strength in translating analyses to concise, compelling business stories that influence decisions and strategy
- Proven track record of leadership, time-management, project management, and teamwork
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA, MS, or PhD Degree (ongoing)
- 0-2 years of work experience in consulting, finance, marketing, sales, drug research and development related fields
- Prior work experience in the biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location for this position in California is $22.00 - $55.00 per hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
