As a Consulting Intern you will:
- be assigned to client engagements and gain real-life business experiences by developing strategies for clients from small businesses to large corporations throughout the US and globally
- build an understanding of clients’ financial, business, and information technology risks and quickly and accurately assess the situation and determine a best fit solution
- begin creating your own business network, develop relationships with leaders and clients, and assist with firm and client growth
- be dedicated to one of the Consulting Teams below for the duration of your internship or you can choose to rotate between 2-3 of them
Our Consulting Teams are:
Client Advisory Services: handles the details of accounting, technical accounting research, ERP implementations, and other projects on behalf of clients. This teams is made up of accomplished and qualified professionals, our CAS group is an alternative to hiring and training your own in-house team.
Forensic, Litigation, and Valuation Services: provides a broad spectrum of forensic and litigation services including analysis and expert testimony within the context of divorce, commercial disputes, fraud, and forensic investigations, and intellectual property issues. Our FLVS team also provides a comprehensive range of business valuation services, both inside and outside the context of litigation.
Oil & Gas Consulting: delivers comprehensive solutions to clients complex operational and accounting challenges such as complex financial reporting, technical advisory, and system implementations and conversations.
Risk Advisory: identifies solutions for clients to mitigate and reduce exposure to risk. The RAS team guides clients through every step of the process to ensure businesses are protected against potential threats.
Transaction Advisory Services: advises on a broad range of transaction services to clients on both the buy side as well as the sell side. The TAS team has significant experience advising clients on quality of earnings, other aspects of due diligence, and post-acquisition matters.
About our Internship Program:
Whitley Penn interns have the opportunity to learn, innovate and succeed while working collaboratively with all levels of leadership and management. Our internship program is designed to give you the opportunity to work in a public accounting firm and get a true experience of what the day to day responsibilities for Associate level professionals are.
Our culture is centered on promoting a healthy work environment and we encourage our interns to grow in both their professional and personal development skills. Interns are provided a mentor throughout the entirety of their internship as they begin to build their brand in the workplace. Interns also go through our professional development program, called DEVELOP at WP.
The goal of the DEVELOP program is to:
- Provide opportunities to expand in your leadership skills
- Network with peers and cultivate working relationships
- Engage with firm leaders and develop professional skills
You’re a fit for a Spring or Summer 2025 Consulting Internship if you:
- Are pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Management Information Systems, or a Financial planning degree.
- Have an accounting and cumulative minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Will be CPA eligible upon graduation (within 18 months of internship)
- Are authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. and not require current or future sponsorship
- Possess excellent communication skills and professional presence
- Exhibit a high level of dedication with a positive attitude
- Are a team player who takes initiative and is willing to learn
