This intern position is within the Exploratory Biopharmaceutics (EB) group in the Drug Product Development (DPD) department located in New Brunswick, NJ. DPD develops novel formulation and processes to enable Drug Products at clinical and commercial stages. To support our dedicated efforts in technology innovation, the intern will focus on nanoparticle (NP)-based formulation development and analytical method development for complex therapeutic modalities, such as siRNA, mRNA, CELMoD, biologics, etc. This project will include hands-on NP formulation development with using microfluidics and NP characterization with utilizing advanced process analytical tools (e.g., DLS, UV/Vis, FTIR, Raman etc) and analytical methods (e.g., UPLC, fluorescent assay) with the aim to develop an efficient method to determine the critical quality attributes of NP-based formulations.
We are looking for candidates who are highly motivated and self-driven; demonstrated innovative problem-solving ability and ability to work independently as well as in a team environment. We are asking for experience in one or more of: analytical chemistry, NP formulation and/or microfluidics.
Summer interns will work with mentors for ~10 weeks on a guided research project within a PD Project Team. The program is organized to ensure that interns gain valuable industry and functional experience, work on challenging assignments, learn about BMS and meet diverse company representatives.
The program will feature:
  • An orientation, including an overview of company structure, products and brands
  • An introduction to the GPS and PD organizations
  • Exposure to senior management and business leaders
  • Formal presentation at the end of your internship
  • A mentorship program

Program Dates: Monday, June 3rd, 2024 - Friday, August 9th, 2024
Please note: interns that will be in-person and reside more than 50 miles away from the work location are eligible for a travel or housing stipend.
Requirements:
  • Candidates should be currently enrolled in an accredited university program seeking a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Biotechnology, Analytical Chemistry, or related areas.
  • Strong hands-on laboratory experience and knowledge in formulation development and analytical chemistry techniques, such as FTIR, Raman, UV/Vis, UPLC etc.
  • Ability to solve problems independently with minimal guidance.
  • Must have good oral/written communication skills and be able to work in a team environment.
  • Must include GPA on resume for consideration (program requires GPA of 3.0 or greater).
