Job description

The Role:
We seek a highly motivated individual with aspirations of gaining first-hand synthetic organic chemistry experience within an industrial setting. The incumbent will have the exciting opportunity to support the ongoing efforts of the Platform Chemistry Team. The responsibilities of this role will focus on learning new synthetic techniques and executing synthetic organic chemistry to generate compounds of interest that will be used for scientific exploration. The individual will be exposed to a wide array of synthetic organic transformations, and will broaden his/her knowledge base by understanding how these reactions work from a mechanistic standpoint. The candidate will strive to become a more independent chemist upon generating new ideas, engaging in synthetic analysis/planning, and actively reading relevant literature. Additionally, the applicant should have strong communication and collaboration skills, along with a strong technical background. We aim for applicants that are enthusiastic and show a passion for learning synthetic organic chemistry.
Here’s What You’ll Do:
Learn new concepts and transformations pertinent to syn organic chemistry
Learn new synthetic organic chemistry techniques within a laboratory setting
Apply synthetic chemistry toward the synthesis of novel LNP components
Execute and troubleshoot standard synthetic chemistry protocols
Maintain good experimental documentation through electronic lab notebooks
Actively read scientific literature relative to projects and synthetic chemistry
Present and discuss results with your manager
Communicate research progress/findings through a final poster session
Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table:
Minimum GPA of 3.4
Currently enrolled Junior or Senior
Completed organic chemistry lecture and lab coursework
Experience in independent research or relevant co-op experience
Excellent communication, presentation, and writing skills
Enthusiasm and willingness to learn
Willingness to work in a team-oriented environment
