Job Summary
The Aerospace Corporation is hiring an Undergraduate Back End Developer Intern for an opportunity in El Segundo, CA.
The Engineering Application Department is part of the Information Systems and Cyber Division. The department performs development and research focused on advanced visualizations, immersive technologies, web technologies, and software delivery for our government and civil customers. The Intelligent Ops and Software Integration team is focused on supporting our customer laboratories in software solutions they include life and characterization software, software delivery, middleware development, and data visualizations.
Work Model:
Hybrid: This position will be a hybrid work model and offer partially remote with some onsite work required in El Segundo, CA.
What You'll Be Doing

  • Support industry leading scientists and engineers in the development of maintainable cloud native and stand-alone data visualization applications as well as the development backend service-oriented architecture components
  • Provide technical support in application architecture and development, continuous integration and continuous deployment, middleware development, and software interface development for laboratory equipment
  • Work with subject matter experts and scientists to develop laboratory applications which enable modeling and simulations of space capabilities
  • Interface with a wide variety of Engineering and Technology Group (ETG), launch, satellite, and other program office customers
  • Synergize with other organizations and corporate initiatives to optimize engineering talent usage across organizations

What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements:
  • Currently enrolled fulltime in an accredited college/university program pursuing a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related discipline
  • Availability to work full-time for a minimum of 10 weeks outside of university term and ability to return to a degree program full-time after completion of the internship.
  • Sophomore class standing completed by internship start date
  • Experience coding in C++ or Java
  • Experience coding in Python
  • Experience with Unix/Linux environments
  • Ability to work both independently, and cooperatively within a team
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance, which is issued by the US government. US citizenship is required to obtain a clearance
  • Transcripts required

How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
  • GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • Active security clearance
  • Work experience with supporting laboratories with software infrastructure and application development
  • Demonstrated self-motivation and willingness to take initiative strongly preferred
  • Ability to work both independently, as a team leader, and cooperatively within a team is strongly preferred
  • Experience with networking
  • Experience in distributed and parallel systems
  • Proficiency in C++/JAVA, Python, and/or REACT/MEAN is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment

We offer a competitive compensation package where you'll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to our business. The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.

$25.00 - $26.00 - $28.00
