Job description

Job Description

About this role: The Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Therapist is ultimately responsible for collaborating with Mental Health Supports, teachers, and student supports to create Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) for students with low-incidence disabilities, as well as to provide direct ABA services to students.

About Collegiate Academies: Collegiate Academies prepares all students for lives of unlimited opportunity. Founded in 2008, Collegiate Academies serves over 3,000 students in five public high schools and two postsecondary programs in New Orleans and Baton Rouge. We serve a dramatically higher proportion of students with special needs, students who are English language learners, and students who are from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. We see the individual greatness of every student who comes through our doors.

Responsibilities:

  • Complete FBA and BIPs for students with low-incidence disabilities.
  • Create plans based on students’ needs and train the Registered Behavior Technician to implement and track data for the plan.
  • Provide direct and indirect supervision of Registered Behavior Technicians to ensure plans are followed and documentation is recorded with fidelity.
  • Collaborate with Related Service Providers, Teachers, and Teaching Assistants to support the ABA IEP goals for students with low-incidence disabilities.

Mindsets and Beliefs:

  • Belief in the limitless potential of all people -- that all students, regardless of their backgrounds and educational pasts, have the potential to succeed in college or an appropriately rigorous post-secondary outcome.
  • Ability to relentlessly pursue goals, and work through obstacles. A high degree of initiative in resolving problems and implementing solutions independently in a fast-paced, highly entrepreneurial environment.
  • Desire to grow as a professional and as a person.
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Exemplary communication skills (written and oral) and the ability to communicate with a wide range of clients and constituents, including scholars, parents, teachers, and community-based partner organizations.
  • Fiercely organized and execution-oriented; experience managing many moving parts and consistently delivering on time.
  • Maturity, humility, strong work ethic, sense of humor, and a roll-up-my-sleeves and “whatever it takes” attitude.
  • Driven by data + results to take on new and greater achievements.
  • Deeply held belief in the mission of Collegiate Academies and that it is the responsibility of schools to help all scholars realize that potential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) required

Additionally, CA provides the following benefits:

  • Industry-leading comprehensive medical and dental coverage
  • 403(b) Plan with a 3% match
  • 6 weeks of breaks per year (plus additional federal holidays) for all employees, with an additional 6 weeks for most school-based roles.
  • 12 weeks paid parental leave for primary and 6 weeks of secondary
  • Up to $2,500 for out-of-state moving expenses
