Position Description:
The Beaverton School District is accepting applications for 2023 Summer School Middle School NewcomerMath Teacher for the upcoming summer.
The Middle School Newcomer Math Teacher provides thoughtful and authentic learning experiences for students served at the district's Newcomer Center. Further, they support the development of an integrated math and language curriculum that fosters the health and well-being of students through inquiry-based learning. The Middle School Newcomer Math Teacher will work closely with the Newcomer ELD teacher and the Newcomer team.
Required Qualifications:
Current TSPC teaching license with endorsement in the assigned subject area.
Summary of Position:
Work Time Period: July 3 - July 27, 2023 (Excluding Fridays and the 4th of July Holiday)
Pay: Per Diem Rate Based on 2023-24 Pay Scale
Class size: 5-8 students
Student Times: 9:00am - 1:00pm and lunch

- 5 work hours each day: teaching three one-hour math groups Monday - Wednesday, plus attend Thursday field trips
- Additional plan/prep/training hours: 10 hours before + 5 hours afterwards. (15 total)
- Additional hours for curriculum development: 25 hours
- Monday through Wednesday: lead three one-hour reading groups and provide English language development.
- Thursday: participate in community field trips for hands-on learning allowing students to create meaningful, personal connections that will reinforce their knowledge.
