Park Hill Professional Studies provides students with the opportunity to connect classroom learning with career exploration. Professional Studies Facilitators provide students with a personalized internship experience coupled with ongoing mentorship to support students in mastering professional skills.
QUALIFICATIONS: Must hold proper certification according to the state of Missouri.
REPORTS TO: Director of Professional Studies
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: New teachers 191 days; returning teachers 188 days with benefits provided according to the Park Hill School District and Park Hill National Education Association Agreement.
JOB GOAL: To facilitate the learning process and professional experiences within the Professional Studies coursework.
- Understand and bridge the culture of education and the work industry.
- Employs a variety of effective instructional strategies to assist students within the Professional Studies coursework and off site professional experiences.
- Assists in the recruitment, development and retention of business and industry partners that result in the following investments:
- Professional Studies curriculum review and design, inclusive of project, problem and professional based learning.
- Guest speakers
- Guest Learning Facilitators
- Mentorships
- Internships
- Monitors student progress and adjusts instruction or professional mentorship accordingly.
- Develops and manages effective communication strategies with students, parents and partners.
- Manages supervision of students in the adherence to business ethics expectations, i.e. professionalism, dress code, attendance, behavior and code of conduct.
- Works collaboratively with other staff and students to develop a student-centered climate for growth within an innovative environment.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Abides by Missouri statutes, school board policies and regulations.
- Attends meetings and performs duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors.
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
