POSITION: Middle School Principal

REPORTS TO: Supervisor of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment
JOB GOAL: To inspire, lead, guide, and direct every member of the administrative, instructional, and supportive services team in setting and achieving the highest standards of excellence, so that each student enrolled in the district may be provided with a complete, valuable, meaningful, and personally rewarding education.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serves as Instructional Leader for the school
- Works directly with Learning Focused (LFS)
- Utilizes Power Walk-Through
- Supervises the Instructional Leadership Team (ILT)
- Supervises the Appraisal Process for DPAS II : DTGSS
- Conducts Observations and Evaluations for the professional and support staff
- Supervises the High School Assistant Principal
- Conducts annual reviews and updates for the Staff and Student Handbooks
- Helps Develop the Master Schedule and Calendar
- Assists the District with the annual Professional Development agenda
- Acts as liaison for College Interns and Student Teachers
- Performs tasks associated with Unit Count Funding
- Oversees School Financial Accounts
- Oversees the Crisis Management Plan
- Produces the Daily and Weekly Bulletin via email
- Communicates daily with the staff and students
- Oversees Use of Facilities requests
- Serves as the Liaison and point-person for the following:
- Wellness Center
- Security Resource Officer
- Hospitality Committee
- Parent Advisory Committees
- Awards ceremony
- Student activities including:
- Field trips
- Special events
- Assemblies
- School CHOICE Program
- Commencement Exercise
- DEA Liaison Committee
- Community and Civic Associations
- Hiring process:
- Screening applicants
- Interview committee
- Attends monthly Board of Education meetings
- Other duties as assigned
- Master's Degree in Education Leadership and five years teaching experience
- Principal/Assistant Principal Certification
- Proven experience in the areas of leadership
- Satisfactory Child Protection Registry
- Mantoux skin test/PPD documentation
- Cooperative Attitude
- Excellent work ethic and ability to work collaboratively
- The State of Delaware requires all public school employees to undergo a criminal background check (state and federal) to determine suitability for employment.
