ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW
Legacy Charter School is a high-performing public charter school
holistically educating 500 scholars in pre-k through 8th grade in Chicago’s North Lawndale neighborhood. Our mission is to create an outstanding center for teaching and learning for children and their families that will recognize and nurture the full potential of every child, provide a foundation for a college education, and educate our scholars to be creative and critical thinkers and responsible citizens in school, at home, and in the broader community.
- Work up to 3.5 hours each day, up to 5 days per week. Hours are generally 10:30 am - 1:45 pm.
- Consistent on-time attendance is required for supervision and instruction of the students
- Supervise students in grades K-8 and maintain order of class while at lunch and recess
- Manage safety and oversight of students during meal service
- Circulate throughout the cafeteria or in areas where meals are served to assist students. Encourage good table manners and scholarly behavior
- Assist with lunch line, food cart set up (as needed), clean-up of tables / chairs
- Assist with delineation of share tables, organizing scholar lunch seats and homeroom line-up for exiting to class
- Communicate with students, school staff, and lead food service worker in a positive and professional manner utilizing appropriate customer service and interpersonal skills
- Support health and safety of students: Assist with the cleanliness of the cafeteria: check the cafeteria or classroom for cleaned tables, chairs, and overall environment. Ensure students are seated at the correct allergen table
- Responsible for implementing "other job related duties" as assigned by the Asst. Dean of School Culture, Administrators, or Principal.
- May need to walk students from classrooms to the bathrooms or cafeteria to bathrooms
- Be aware of and comply with school rules and procedures.
- Participate in school training sessions, meetings, and scheduled cleaning days as requested

QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with supervision of students (0 or more years)
- Ability to handle a multitude of varying and complex issues
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Some understanding of school lunch program regulations
- Some knowledge of proper food safety and sanitation procedures for food service
- Mature ability to use judgment and be dependable
- Ability to work as part of a team and accept responsibility
- Ability to follow all safety rules and regulations (Health and School Safety)
- Ability to lift 5-15 lbs as required
