Position Summary
The Driver's position primary responsibility is to drive to various locations and pick up food for the Feeding San Diego/Food Recovery program and bring it back to the corps for distribution. Other responsibilities include keeping the vehicle clean, reporting to Feeding San Diego, keeping all food areas clean and organized and doing stats. Driver responsibilities will also extend to driving for day camp, summer camp and kettles when needed.
Essential Functions

• Driving to pick up food and other supplies from various retail outlets.
• Seasonal driving responsibilities may include but are not limited to driving kids to Summer Camp, Driving to various locations for Day Camp, VBS, Troops or Women's Ministry.
• Assisting in the distribution of food/food boxes, packing of food boxes, and storing and maintaining food spaces when not driving
• Must keep a detailed log of donations and maintain computer data entry including but not limited to Monthly reports to The Salvation Army and to Feeding San Diego, vehicle mileage, entering social services client's data into Wellsky and Corps Management or other program as directed and as needed.
• Assist in program management and successful operations including but not limited to Business matters affecting and relating directly to assigned corps, maintaining fiscal integrity of the assigned corps (including complete and proper record keeping and security), and ensuring high standards of stewardship for funds, property and resources.
• Other driving responsibilities may include but are not limited to; picking up donations other than food, transporting corps members, seasonal workers and program participants; helping with seasonal operations including kettles, thanksgiving, food boxes, Christmas and toys, as directed and as needed.
• Help maintain vehicles including but not limited to taking to car wash, oil changes, keeping vehicles fueled, keeping them clean and free of damage. Report all incidents immediately.
• Maintain proper records, (including statistical, financial, and all others required)
• Maintain good public relations, Function in harmony with The Salvation Army guidelines, promote, direct and support special events and activities for assigned Corps.
• Must have basic computer knowledge including typing, Excel and Word.
• Answering the telephone, making phone calls, answering the door when available to do so, and interacting with clients needing services, when available and not driving.
• Janitorial and other cleaning/maintenance duties may be assigned when not driving
• Good communication skills a must.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
• Must be in good physical and mental health, capable of meeting program demands.
• Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on a continuous or intermittent basis.
• Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, filing cabinet drawers, and reach overhead.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 60 pounds.
• Must have and maintain a valid Class B California Driver's License.
• Must successfully complete The Salvation Army's driver safety program before driving and will be required to recertify annually as required.
• Must meet certification by and participation in The Salvation Army's Fleet Safety Program. (The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Policy dictates that an employee may not obtain more than two (2) moving violations or accidents within any 12-month period; see The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Policy).

Working Conditions
Ability to walk, stand, bend squat climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to be able to lift up to 60lbs. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as file cabinet drawers and reach overhead. Ability to operate computer, fax, copy machine and telephone.
Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Additional Education helpful.
• Basic computer knowledge and typing skills, including Word, Publisher, and Excel. (No minimum wpm required)
• Ability to read, write and communicate well in English. Bilingual in English/Spanish is beneficial, but not required.
• Ability to use multi-line network telephone system.
• Minimum 5 years driving experience (non-professional).

• Must be committed to The Salvation Army's Christian Mission and Ministry.
• Detail oriented, self-motivated and team player with excellent communication skills.
• Ability and willingness to keep information confidential.
• Must have a willingness and flexibility to learn and do new tasks, including but not limited to EDS and Canteen service.
• Must have knowledge of cooking and preparing meals, and a willingness to prepare meals for large numbers of people.
