Job description

An Ancona family seeks a 1:1 Student Aide at The Ancona School, beginning August 2023 (the start of the 2023-2024 school year).
A 1:1 Student Aide at Ancona plays a crucial role in supporting the student they are paired with throughout their daily routine. While Ancona’s teachers provide the architecture for the academic and social/emotional development of young children, the 1:1 Student Aide's focus is to foster individual growth and address the specific needs of the individual student they are working directly with.
The student who will be supported by the 1:1 Student Aide has challenges related to 22q Deletion Syndrome, including anxiety management, developmental delays, sensory processing, and ADHD tendencies. He is a fun-loving kid who is easily redirectable, but he benefits most from hands-on support to assist with his educational needs, understanding social cues, and executive functioning development. The student receives regular assistance from Ancona’s Student Support Team (SST), along with weekly speech and occupational therapy sessions with outside providers.
This is an excellent opportunity to work under the tutelage of a master teacher and observe the theories of progressive education and child development—with an emphasis on social justice—in action throughout Ancona’s vibrant learning community.
