Application Security Risk Analyst

 

The Fund for Public Health in New York City (FPHNYC) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the health and well-being of all New Yorkers.  To this end, in partnership with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH), FPHNYC incubates innovative public health initiatives implemented by DOHMH to advance community health throughout the city. It facilitates partnerships, often new and unconventional, between the government and the private sector to develop, test, and launch new initiatives. These collaborations speed the execution of demonstration projects, effect expansion of successful pilot programs, and support rapid implementation to meet the public health needs of individuals, families, and communities across New York City.

 

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Division of Information Technology aims to align technology solutions with the DOHMH mission by prioritizing resource use and deploying innovations that facilitate the agency's day-to-day activities and enhance staff productivity and efficiency. Our goal is to provide users with a reliable, stable, and safe computing environment through the collaboration of the Bureau of Technology Strategy & Project Management, which provides business analysis and IT project management services to define and deliver IT solutions that meet all program needs.

 

POSITION OVERVIEW

The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) seeks a qualified individual to fill the Application Security Risk Analyst role. The Application Security analyst will join a team responsible for security assessments of applications and other software to identify vulnerabilities, threats, and risks. The analyst will lead vulnerability assessments and monitoring services across several applications. They will also develop proactive cybersecurity security strategies and guidance documentation to empower the agency to protect its data, integrity, and reputation.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage IT Security / Cybersecurity related projects, programs, and initiatives.
  • Proficiency with Office 365, SharePoint, teams, projects, Visio, forms, and applications such as Airtable.
  • Support IT Security Leadership to strengthen collaboration, prioritization, and execution, serving as a key partner, relationship builder, and leader across the division agency.
  • Ensure effective governance of relevant strategic and cross-functional projects and initiatives.
  • Independently plan and manage select key projects from inception to completion - these will typically be highly cross-functional or particularly sensitive projects.
  • Oversee the planning and management of division-wide and bureau-wide meetings related to IT Security projects and programs, both regular (recurring) and ad hoc (when necessary), including agenda development and ensuring effective facilitation and follow-up.
  • Draft reports, briefing documents, talking points, and presentations for internal and external audiences at the request of IT executive leadership.
  • Develop business cases and return on investments on new strategic priorities.
  • Developed, analyzed, and reviewed key IT performance indicators for projects and programs for the IT Security group.
  • Monitor project progress and set deadlines to achieve the project's goals.
  • Develop a rollout plan and oversee deployment into production, including developing a support plan.
  • Work on procurement and budget-related tasks.
  • Understanding various legal aspects related to risk, compliance, and regulations.
  • Frequently review health, safety, and operational procedures for projects.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven experience across key strategic functions, including finance, data, systems, and delivery.
  • Proven experience in effectively influencing at the senior management level in a complex organization.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality work on schedule.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to anticipate and assess situations accurately and recommend/implement practical courses of action required.
  • Strong team leadership and management skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders with tact and diplomacy, both orally and in writing, including working with all staff levels and diverse personalities.
  • Exceptional discretion and confidentiality in dealing with sensitive material.
  • A flexible work attitude and a calm manner, able to function effectively under pressure.
  • Ability to proactively identify challenges and develop creative solutions in close collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Excellent judgment, tact, initiative, creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving, organizational skills, and self-motivation.
  • 5-10 years of relevant work experience, at least three in a strategy or project management role, with gradually increasing responsibilities and a track record of high performance.
  • Must have experience with Cybersecurity and/or Network Security Engineering.
  • Flexibility to oversee project management duties during off-hours or weekend implementations (when necessary, with advance notice)
  • Have a working knowledge of Information Technology terminology or certification.
  • High proficiency with Excel.
  • Certification of PMP or other equivalent.

 

SALARY 

  • Salary range is $65,000 to $95,000

 

WORK SCHEDULE

9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Monday to Friday

In-office

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT

You must live in New York City Tri-state area (NY, NJ, CT) in order to be considered for a position at FPHNYC.
