    Primary Function:
    The Reception/Vestibule clerk shall provide efficient, friendly and safety-conscious supervision and management of the entrance to Indian Trail Elementary School at Elm Place
    Essential Functions:

    • Greet visitors to the building and provide directions as needed
    • Follow all building security protocols when processing visitors, including logs, badges, and using the district’s Visitor Management System
    • Report any issues regarding building access to administration in a timely manner
    • Coordinate with Transportation Department the communication of logistical issues related to transportation, including delays
    • Be aware of the school calendar of events and communicate event information as needed
    • Monitor cameras that provide building surveillance
    • Follow District Crisis Plan and safety procedures
    • In conjunction with building principal, ensure that vestibule is occupied at all times during school hours
    • Perform daily office tasks including filing, copying, and mailings
    • Receive and route telephone calls
    • Sort and distribute mail
    • Comply with the Board of Education policies
    • Maintain confidentiality of student and staff information
    • Present a positive image of the school district at all times including personal and telephone contacts, resolution of problems, and general assistance to all groups having contact with the school
    • Perform other duties at the request of the building administration
    Physical Demands:
    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be sufficiently agile to quickly alternate between sitting, standing, walking and reaching
    • The employee will be required to talk and hear
    • The employee is frequently required to stand; walk, operate office and computer equipment; reach with hands and arms and will repeat actions with the same hand, arm or finger motion
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and the ability to adjust focus. In addition, the ability to withstand long-term use of computer monitors is required.
    • The employee may occasionally lift up to 20 pounds independently
    • The position requires meeting unyielding deadlines, interacting with the public and staff
    • Frequent typing is required
    • The employee must be able to read, understand, and provide direction
    • The employee must be able to respond to emergencies
    Work Environment:
    • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. However, on occasion, the noise level will be high.
    • The employee shall frequently use personal computing skills with web browsers, databases, software, spreadsheets, and word processing
    • Work is usually conducted indoors, however, the receptionist may be asked to assist with outside supervision duties
    Qualifications:
    • Computer Proficiency – Google Docs, Internet, Email, Security Systems, Excel, etc.
    • Excellent Organizational and time management skills
    • Advanced keyboarding skills.
    • Excellent telephone, interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability function effectively independently
    • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions
    • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality as appropriate and required
    • Proficient skill in English composition, grammar, and spelling
    • Spanish language skills preferred

    Working Conditions:
    Salary range: $18.69- $20.83 per hour plus excellent benefits including health and dental insurance, IMRF Retirement Pension Service Credit, paid sick, personal, bereavement leave and other benefits in a 7 hour paid work day per our NSSSA CBA.
