Zonal President, Midwest
The primary responsibility of this role will be to execute upon our Commercial Insurance market strategies within the zone through AIG's four distribution channels (Retail, Wholesale, Alternative Channels and Client Engagement), support the achievement of planned financial performance for the Midwest Zone through execution of zonal and regional distribution strategies and provide local leadership to all business and functional teams promoting professionalism and collaboration in the office and marketplace.
More detailed responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
  • Responsible for managing the 3 regions within the Midwest Zone - Chicago Region (IL, WI), Heartland Region (MN, IN, ND, SD, MO, KS, IA, NE) and the Great Lakes Region (OH, MI, KY, WV, Pitt.). Each region has a Managing Director (direct reports) in addition to distribution leaders and client directors, all within the field organization managed by the Zone President.
  • Financial accountability for the General Insurance Commercial zonal planned GPW, new business and KPIs.
  • Collaborate with product leadership on new business and renewal strategies for each product line and execute on those strategies within the zone.
  • Collaborate with Retail, Wholesale, Alternative Channel and global businesses to develop and deliver tailored distribution solutions for the zone by applying nationally consistent broker and customer engagement strategy.
  • Drive both alignment and "Transactional Excellence" with Zonal Business Units through effective use of Strategic Action Plans, Production Reports, Visibility Report, Opportunity Finder, Top Trades/Escalation and KPIs tracking Greenspace initiative and creating pipe-lines consistency.
  • Ensure client retention and satisfaction to support culture of collaboration across the businesses for cross-selling and customer support.
  • Interface with local broker leadership and clients on strategic and transactional objectives.
  • Continue to communicate General Insurance North America's mission and strategy:
  • Customer and distribution centricity centered on leveraging our key assets and key franchises to achieve balanced trade.

  • Support Zonal and Regional Balanced Trade strategy and demonstrate results through national Balanced Trade Scorecard.
  • Implement regional broker strategic action plans in conjunction with national broker strategic action plans.
  • Regularly collaborate with other Zone Presidents to share market and operational opportunities and best practices to leverage across the country.

Job Requirements:
  • 15+ Years of experience years in broker, underwriting or distribution that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position, including 10+ years of managerial, supervisory, and/or demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Broad market knowledge and contacts in various lines of business or industry specializations is preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to influence senior level management and internal/external stakeholders of all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully attract, retain, and develop talent via a culture of real-time performance feedback, with ability to build both technical and leadership skills. Demonstrated strong relationship management skills with internal stakeholders.
