Youth/Young Adult Coordinator

FULL-TIME [Nonexempt] : 40 hours

Coordinated Care Services Inc (CCSI) seeks a talented Youth/Young Adult Coordinator to contribute their expertise in providing essential business services to our provider organizations and customers. The Youth/Young Adult Coordinatorprovides direct 1:1 peer support to youth of transition age with, or at risk of developing, behavioral health challenges. This “Credible Messenger” proscriptively uses lived experience navigating the mental health system to engage transition-age youth in formal behavioral health services and other formal and informal recovery support services. The Youth/Young Adult Coordinator also works to build a network of credentialed youth peer support providers in Onondaga County.


CCSI is partnering with the Onondaga County Department of Children and Family Services to hire a Youth/Young Adult Coordinator. This position is employed by CCSI and working on behalf of the Onondaga County Department of Children and Family Services.


In this role, you will be

  • Helping families and youth establish creative community connections and assist them in identifying and developing natural supports.
  • Serving as a credible messenger and partners with youth, young adults, and families where appropriate to complete the assessment process, explore natural supports, support registration into an educational program, assist with problem-solving, and identify solutions.
  • Educating youth, young adults, and families where appropriate on mental health resources and other supportive services and community resources available and completing associated referrals to services.
  • Taking the lead in and or providing team support for navigating complex referral response needs.
  • Providing mentoring support to enhance team orientation and training practice development.
  • Taking presentation lead for community presentations when needed.
  • Designing and running youth/ young adult support groups.
  • Supporting Youth/Young Adults with experience navigating behavioral health system in becoming a credentialed peer support provider.
  • Conducting community-wide training in youth-guided and youth-driven care.
  • Fulfilling other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

  • Associate degree in human services or related field plus 2 years providing services to youth of transition age, or equivalent education and work experience.

Additional Requirements

  • Satisfactory completion of all required background screenings.
  • The candidate must be eligible to receive credentialing as a Certified Youth Peer Advocate (CYPA). Under those credentialing guidelines, the applicant must be between the ages of 18 and 30 years old and have self-identified as a person who has first-hand experience with social, emotional, medical, developmental, substance use, and/or behavioral challenges.
  • Valid driver's license
