REPORTS TO: Program Director
COMPENSATION: $15-$17 an hr.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The mission of the Boys & Girls Club of Garfield is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens.
This position is designed for people who are under the age of 18 and above the age of 16 who are interested in working with youth in the future. This position provides great experience for individuals in highschool and would like to gain experience working with elementary aged children.
Full Job Description
The Boys & Girls Club of Garfield is seeking a professional, motivated, and nurturing Junior Staff to help with general supervision and childcare, day-to-day maintenance, and cleaning tasks during our Aftercare and Summer Camp program. The candidate’s primary responsibility is to ensure that club members' safety and support the effective function of programming throughout the summer camp program.
Responsibilities
- Participate in all staff training and meetings
- Guide individual campers and groups in participating in all program activities • Supervise all aspects of the campers’ day including outside play and pool times when needed • Assist in teaching or leading activities as assigned
- Set a good example for youth and others including cleanliness, punctuality, sharing clean-up, and sportsmanship
- Organizes and assists in various small and large group activities • Disinfect commonly used items like bathrooms, desks, door handles, office tools, and phones.
- Empty trash and recycling bins
- Other duties may be assigned as required.

Requirements
- Available to work with little to no interruption (9 weeks) • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and be able to work up to eight hours a day in an active youth-focused environment that may require some physical exertion. • Education and experience in camp, youth programs, recreation, working with children, or in a related field
- First AID, AED, BLS/CPR certification preferred

All Staff Members are required to be vaccinated per state requirements. Masks are strongly encouraged but not mandatory.
