Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Director of Sports and with cooperation with other staff, and consistent with the mission of the YMCA, the Youth Sports Staff will be directly responsible for the set up and inventory of sports equipment, assisting in lining the fields and courts; set up mandatory attendance on game days for Youth Sports. He or she will assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of all new youth programs. This also includes basketball, baseball, soccer, volleyball, tournaments, camps, clinics, and other responsibilities as assigned. He/She must be enthusiastic and display strong interpersonal skills that will afford them the opportunity to develop positive relationships with coaches, children, and parents.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Serves as role model to members and Y staff, and at all times lives the mission, vision and values of the YMCA movement.
2. Uses teachable moments as often as possible during the course of a game.
3. Assist with set up and take down of athletic equipmenent.
4. Assist in the monitoring of inventory in the departments equipment and to ensure effective, and safe use
5. Officiate youth soccer, basketball, baseball, volleyball or any particular sport the Y may provide
6. Reads and understands the rules that have been developed for the YMCA league.
7. Enforces the rules using a whistle and verbal communication
8. Monitor gym or fields during practices and reporting any negative behavior to proper channels
9. Monitor practices and assist coaches if needed with proper equipment
10. Begin each game with a prayer or devotion
11. Provides extraordinary customer services; responsiveness to coaches and needs participants needs.
12. Provide direct supervision to program participants at all times and ensures a safe environment. If a hazardous situation occurs he or she acts swiftly to correct it.
13. Demonstrates professionalism in executing tasks.
14. Maintains a clean and safe work site; assist custodial staff as needed to ensure a clean and safe environment.
15. Prepares incident reports accurately, consistently and in accordance with established timelines. Communicate to supervisor in writing, accident and discipline situations which require corrective actions. Seek guidance from supervisor in unusual circumstances.
16. Participate in and solicit others to participate in necessary YMCA financial development efforts, specifically the Annual Campaign.
17. Maintain certifications listed under Certificates and Other Requirements.
18. Adherence to all policies and procedures of Greater Naples YMCA.
19. Understand and follow all safety rules and regulations including knowledge of emergency procedures and location of emergency equipment.
20. Regular and timely adherence to respective schedule/meetings/trainings.
21. All other duties as assigned by the Director of Sports.
