The YMCA of Greater New York, New York City's leading nonprofit community service and wellness organization, is seeking a Youth Sports, Arts and Movement program specialist to advance the organization programs and services to children and young adults.  The Youth Sports, Arts and Movement Director will be responsible for enhancing and expanding the enrichment programming, including instructional Youth Sports, dance, performing and visual arts, my grown up and me classes as well as relevant community workshops and leagues, through creating and implementing a comprehensive long-term strategy. They will work throughout the organization to coordinate, implement, support, and measure the impact of the Y's Youth Sports, Arts and movement programs and services.  
In addition, the Youth Sports, Arts and Movement Director will be responsible for identifying and developing new initiatives.  Working collaboratively with YMCA staff, community stakeholders, and funders, they will provide oversight to the strategy, systems, and structure of the programs.  
This position will report to the Y's Youth and Community Development department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create a comprehensive long-term 8-week youth program strategy and continuum, including assessing current and future trends.
  • Identify and cultivate opportunities and partners to deepen and scale Youth Sports, Arts and movement programming at branches as appropriate Y citywide.
  • Support the planning and implementation of all citywide training and program initiatives, ensuring YMCA's program expectations and compliance requirements are met.
  • Coordinate the empirical evaluation of programs and services based on defined models, internal and external standards, and funder expectations; provide summary findings and recommendations internally and externally as required.
  • Work closely with branch and association staff in fostering cross-departmental collaboration to expand capacity, grow expertise, and deepen the impact of the YMCA's youth programs throughout the city.
  • Create and monitor a resource referral system for youth and families
  • Represent and advocate on behalf of the initiatives in various YMCA and public forums as needed.
  • Lead and/or develop staff trainings/training curricula in content areas.
  • Otheractivities and duties as assigned.

Desired Skills:

  • At least two - five years of experience managing, evaluating, and supporting community youth sports, Arts and movement programming.
  • Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Social Services/Human Services, or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of fee-based youth and family sports, Arts and movement programs in NYC.
  • Background in programs that serve youth with diverse abilities preferred.
  • Strong communication and project management skills.
  • General knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
    Knowledge of Access, Adobe PageMaker and Photoshop preferred.
