Position Overview:

The ILP Youth Recovery Worker provides daily direct interaction, connection, and support for youth in the assigned Independent Living Plus Home. This position is responsible for upholding TBRI (connection, empowerment, and correction) principles in direct interactions with the youth and directly executing each child’s service and safety plans. Youth Recovery Workers are advocates for the youth in care and provide hands on activities and mentoring.


Responsibilities:

  • Implements quality-assurance measures and ensures residents understand and follow processes and program requirements.
  • Provide mentoring, role modeling, and Life Skills information to residents in group setting or on individual basis as needed.
  • Guide all youth in daily routines and tasks.
  • Promote and engage in effective youth-staff interactions using routines within the youth’s home as the positive learning environment and utilize identified ILP curriculum plans.
  • Provide input in Family Team Meetings and for written Assessments/Service Plans, Goals, and other reports in collaboration with youth and ILP Treatment Team.
  • Make all efforts to assure the safety and well-being of every youth in the program.
  • Attend community events with youth and the ILP team, this may include evening and weekends.
  • Understand the importance of daily work attendance, its impact on coworkers, youth, and the agency.
  • Continuously build relational connection with the residents and provides crisis intervention while upholding fidelity to program intervention models.
  • Uphold positive thought processes for youth in care, separating the youth from their behavior, in all interactions/conversations/notes/reports with and about youth. Ensuring all reporting and documentation are completed within the required agency and stakeholder systems.
  • Provides immediate, appropriate, and kind redirection and correction for problematic behaviors among the youth, in accordance with agency standards.
  • Provide court testimony and recommendations as needed.
  • Articulate and exemplify the agency’s treatment philosophy and values while advocating for the youth’s needs.
  • Gathers necessary information at the start of shift, and shares information at the end of shift, to ensure continuity of services.
  • Supports team culture to be trauma informed, compassionate, and upholding youth’s dignity.
  • Abide by licensing and contract obligations, including participating in audits, reporting and investigations as needed.
  • Actively participates in weekly supervision and at least monthly team meetings.
  • Communicates with internal and external stakeholders with a high level of professionalism.
    • Identifies personal sensitivities/challenges and successfully self-regulates under pressure.
  • Performs other duties related to the essential duties of the position and within the individual’s capabilities as assigned by one’s supervisor.

  • HS Diploma or Equivalent
  • Lived experience with the child welfare system and/or experienced child abuse.
  • strongly preferred.
  • The ideal candidate will have interest and/or experience in serving children with extensive trauma histories.
  • Education, understanding or lived experiences regarding the needs of adolescents.
  • Meet State “Good Moral Character” guidelines.
  • Valid and Current Driver’s License.
